You drive around in a futuristic hover car delivering pizza to various locations, read dialogue, and it's constantly raining. There's no way to sugar coat it, this is a poor mans version of Cloudpunk. These walking simulator style of games heavily rely on interesting dialogue and stories to deliver their value, but sadly, this doesn't cut it. The people have next to nothing to say, as the talking is comprised of casual conversation that has zero impact on anything you're doing. The gameplay basically boils down to picking up a delivery at point A, dropping it off to point B, read some dialogue, rinse and repeat until the game ends. That's it. It's a cool little game to mess around, but you'll likely play it once, and move on from it. As of this review, this game has a base price of 7.99 USD. I completed this game, and in my opinion, that's WAY too steep for what this is. By comparison, Cloupunk is 19.99, which is a bit over double this game's price (totally worth it by the way) but when both these games go on sale, they're nearly the same price. Let's be real, most people buy games on sale, and as of this review, both of these games actually are on sale, and there's only a 3 dollar price difference between them (Rain City: Pandemic: 3.99; Cloudpunk 6.99). So with it's base price being too high, and it's sale price not being able to compete with a grander experience's sale price, this game has a pricing problem. I was able to beat this game in 46 minutes. Cloudpunk took me 15.2 hours. This game has 13 achievements, Cloudpunk has 79. It's a 3 dollar price difference guys. See what I'm getting at here? This thumbs down isn't because I hate the game. I hate the price, and I can't give it a recommendation because of that. It's still a cool little game to mess around with, but like I already said, most people will likely beat it one time and move on, and it needs a price adjustment to reflects that. It would feel a lot more appropriate if this was 3.99 base price with it's sale price being 1.99 and below.

The graphics are great. The controls are great. But..I'll just be completely honest here; I don't find the characters or story to be interesting at all. The characters discuss the minor inconveniences people have had during the pandemic; People having to work from home, not being able to live their normal lives etc. It feels very weird and misplaced in an otherwise nice cyberpunk setting. If you really just want to relax and not have your brain challenged in any way, you might still appreciate listening to pixel-people whine about lack of toilet paper or having to share their working space with the kids. TLDR; It is Cloudpunk for kids.
I've been looking for this. Nice, simple, and cozy.
Great game! Very immersive! Almost makes you feel like you’re living through a real pandemic!
Alright. Rainy City: Pandemic is done and dusted. This was an enjoyable game in the vein of Cloudpunk, but much more focused on a singular topic and not as expansive. I really enjoyed this game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3324193834 You play as Sam, whose sister, Naomi, has gotten sick and needs a treatment which will no longer be effective after about 15 days. So, you, in your role as a pizza delivery guy, need to come up with $1500 quick so she can get the treatment she needs. Your friend Betty runs the local corner store/pizza shop, and you will both chat her up about a variety of things and also get to know the people (and other things) who have ordered deliveries from Betty. This is all accomplished via hovercar. While the city is not nearly as fully developed as Nivalis, what is there is really cool and it's a fun place to fly around in. This game was made as a response to and documentation of the lock downs and uncertainties we all faced during the Covid-19 pandemic (weird pandemic deniers notwithstanding) and was really as spot on as anything I've read or played or seen. But, while this was a crazy time in our lives and a crazy time in the game as well, you can't afford to lose your humanity, and that I think is the real message of this game. It takes a humorous approach to things while still be respectful of the situation, and the result is a light-hearted and good feeling adventure that nonetheless identifies the variety of responses people had to their lives being turned upside down. Up to and including the great toilet paper shortage of 2020, lol. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3324193822 Once you have collected the necessary funds to help your sister, the game ends. You will need to keep track of your hunger and the fuel in your hovercar. Hunger is mediated by buying yourself pepperoni and pineapple pizzas, lol. And gas is gas. Both can be purchased from Betty. Additionally, you will often be sent into quarantined areas for deliveries. You will wear a mask for those trips, which also pay a lot more. And while on delivery, you'll pick up old pizza boxes for Betty, left outside peoples' homes, for a little bit of extra cash. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3324193889 The graphics are a lo-fi version of what you would see in Cloudpunk, and are comfortable. The city design is pretty simple with clearly marked streets and no real hazards to speak of. From a technical standpoint, everything functioned fine in this game. I encountered no issues or bugs whatsoever. This is a game that never loses site of its humanity despite having to deal with harsh circumstances. It was both funny and completely enjoyable and is really an easy recommendation if you're looking for a casual and cool, somewhat futuristic experience that also reconciles the realities of Covid with your own humanity. Very chill game. Nice to kick back and enjoy during the current Pandemic. Loved the music in it. Lucy was by far my favorite character.
Nice simple story driven game. Fun and contemplative, really wanted to get to know more about the characters. One wish - could use gamepad support, that would make it a more relaxed experience, nearly didn't make it on easy! oh and more cars, but maybe that was because I was playing on easy. Update: didn't know that you can just map a gamepad to keyboard buttons! played again once I found that out and it was really much better and relaxing, but even better was the update! Lots of new dialog and story that really made it more fun! Also on my second play found a protip: you can pass on taking some deliveries to get to the characters you want to interact with. anyway, even more thumbs uppy than before.
A super cute and relaxing game. The character backstories combined with the art style and music created a really nice atmosphere.
Rainy Days
Rainy City Pandemic is a game about a delivery boy in a city that is swept up in the wave of a pandemic. You are attempting to raise money for your sister to get her the medical attention she needs. This game had started out as a seven dollar game and has gone through some patches and a price drop to raise the quality of life. I played through the game again after a wave of updates and admittedly I have yet to play the newest additions to the game. What I can say is that one of the weaker points of the games has been significantly improved. The weakest point before was the dialogue. When playing the game through again I was no longer running into dialogue that was repeated nor were there as many open ended short conversations. The game still makes me think of Cloudpunk which is a game I would highly recommend trying out if you enjoy this game. The controls work well with mouse and keyboard. The music while a bit repetitive is still chill and fitting. The characters are diverse and the art is pretty nice. There are two difficulties to play and some easter eggs to find as well as recently added achievements. The story is very kind of place of time since it covers a city amid quarantine much like covid-19 affects many areas.
The Minor Gripes
Going through a game twice is bound to make me feel a bit more nit picky when it comes to some of the things I don't enjoy as much. While the conversations have developed a lot better there are still some where I feel like I didn't experience all characters routes. This is probably supposed to be solved by skipping some deliveries and doing others but I had a habit of always accepting deliveries. I'm really glad there wasn't repetition in the dialogue like my previous play. About the only time it happened and I still feel like it's a mechanic that could be improved is when you had to get a mask to go into the quarantine zone. This happens every few deliveries and when it does you can expect to lose some money and click through three or four lines of dialogue you see each time. The gameplay is still a bit repetitive as it is mostly flying to your next dialogue; but with the added dialogue this isn't as bad as it was previously. I played on both normal and hard since you have to play normal to unlock hard; and my only complaint there is it looked like I was running into the same branches and dialogue on both modes in almost the same order. Again this may have been due to my choice to not skip deliveries and mixing up the customers.

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ pros ♥
+Controls work well +Tackles the quarantine subject +Nice art & music +Multiple difficulties +Developer care and attention
(っ>▬<)っ x cons x
-Repetitive gameplay -Experiencing all branches and story arcs may take multiple playthroughs
I can respect any developer who is willing to step back and listen to the feedback provided by the player base and dive back in and attempt to improve the overall project. I'm not sure if there is more work planned for this project but with the improved dialogues and decreased price this is a project I'm glad to say has turned around for the better. It looks nice but its a bit static. Not very interactive or many options nothing to develop not even a map.
