A brief walking simulator/first-person game that is priced accordingly. Tonguç Bodur is a master of "trying different approaches" with all his games. Different storylines, sometimes preachy but often deep in scope. And, as always, beautiful graphics and pleasant background music. The game was well-optimized with visual settings maxed out, even on my 5 year old desktop PC. As stated, it's very short: four chapters (give or take an interlude) that only take about five minutes or so each to complete...if you don't take the time to stop and enjoy the scenery. I would take the time to stop and enjoy the visual masterpieces in each chapter, as loving care is always taken by Tonguc to provide splendid environments, dark or light, indoors or outdoors, in all his games, and P 1951 has some gorgeous environments to wander around in, even if at times you're railed in by invisible borders. SO many moving parts and just so lush. Tonguc is a master of environment creation. SO much to look at. The controls in this game are also different from his other walking simulators, and I think they're an improvement in this game (especially for those older gamers like myself who have some carpal tunnel issues). For instance: using M/KB with P 1951, clicking right-mouse and letting go means you don't have to hold down any walking/running/bike riding buttons to progress: once you press right-mouse, the movement is automatic; all the player has to do is steer with the mouse as you continue forward movement (in this case, nicely done; because you are usually riding a bicycle in this game). Well done! You can always click right-mouse again to stop and look around or backtrack if need be. Cleverly done! The only negative in my opinion is the lack of "chapter replays" once the game is finished. The scenery and environments are so splendid to look at, I'd have loved to replay certain (albeit short) chapters just to take everything in....without having to replay the entire game from the beginning. Also, if you don't finish a chapter prior to quitting the game, you have to start from the chapter you left off at from the beginning. Not a big deal, as the chapters are brief. ******EDITED: the developer has added CHAPTER REPLAYS!!!! Once the game is completed and after the brief credits roll, you can quit to the main menu and there you will find chapter replays...thanks, Tonguc! ******* There's also a mini-puzzle at the end of a couple of chapters (lining up visual scenes in circles in the sky...you'll know it when you get to it). Finally, the voice over talent, while pleasant to listen to, could have been more professional in that it felt, to me, like the (English speaking voice over person, in my case) was simply reading a script when narrating. Very little emotion. As a former professional voice over person myself, I always tried to emote properly and effectively, based on the storyline and/or script presented to me. This guy was simply reading what in some cases was a very touching storyline, and with what little emotion was given to his narration, it was a bit cringe-y to listen to. Not that big a deal for a short game, but I have to be honest. Overall, a beautiful game. Well-priced; cheap, in fact. I look forward to every game Tonguc creates. This one did not dissapoint. Well worth the small price to pay.
If you have some kind of sensitive light problem (Photophobia), don't play this game. the environnement light changes in different lights to give mood and puzzle are blurred of pixels in withe and light color. Let's complain a bit because of how this is making the game unpleasant to play, that I have a high possibly to rise the brightness I must lower it and not too much but otherwise the game becomes pitch black. Those puzzles to change chapters are horrible.
Nice game for relaxing after a long day at work
I've played a couple or three Tonguc Bodur games in my day, but Purpose 1951 is more annoying than most. Am I eligible to get a degree in Tonguc Bodur Studies? Anyway, Purpose 1951 is a walking simulator. What I will give the game is that you do walk in it. What I won't give the game is much else. The foliage and animals in the environments aren't very naturalistic. There are caverns lit by torchlight (for those who don't know, Americans invented electric lights, and by 1951 there were plenty of them around). The music is the mopiest piano meandering you've ever heard. The writing is definitely the star of the show, though. It's MEGA bad. The tone, diction, and even the message are all anachronistic, and it just hurts. The voice acting is sappy. But the worst part is the game preaching at you about how bad things were in 1950s America. That was peak America, peak global hegemony, maybe peak civilization, and this game applies every criticism you've ever heard about 21st century American healthcare and society to a time period that the writer clearly knows nothing about. Tone deaf would be an understatement. You think you're done hearing about it, and then the dialogue will start anew and you find yourself audibly groaning. The funniest part, and thus probably the best part, is the dilapidated hospital scene where you can see "#RUN" on one wall. The 1950s were the best decade for Twitter, as it turns out. But the fact that the developer would put in a hospital scene evidently made for a horror game in as a not-tongue-in-cheek example of a 1950s hospital in the US is insane. There's the red anarchy A (you know the one) on the wall--I'm sure the developer put a lot of time and effort into handcrafting that scene, but that was an odd choice of detail to include here. I don't know how much Dear Esther costs at this point, but this is not an acceptable substitute, though it's trying to go for the exact same thing in close to the same way. It's just lobotomized Dear Esther. One last thing. The bicycling section is epic. You play as the Terror of Tiny Town the whole game, it seems, but putting him on a bike is extra cute. Your little legs are so close together and move in such itty bitty circles that it sets off that part in your brain that activates when you see a hamster cleaning its whiskers or something. The "AWWWWWWW" reflex is on full blast. Also, props for figuring out how to bicycle backwards. I haven't mastered that skill yet, but now I know what I'll be doing this weekend. You'll be better off if you don't play this game. When you see someone trying to blow the lid off of a well-kept secret in a way that just reveals that they don't know anything, not just about the topic at hand, but about anything, it can be slightly comedic, but the comedy doesn't overcome the overwhelming urge to claw your eyes out the whole time.

Buen juego
This game is definitely short, but overall not bad. Recommend getting it on sale if you can. The story is impactful even if it is a bit on the darker or more depressing side. Easy to earn all the achievements with the guide that is available. Overall would recommend.
Finished the game this morning. Very short game. finished it in 52 munutes. The reason my playtime ays 86 minutes is because I had to start again. Finished the game with 100 percent achievements. Its a great walking simulaotr game. No collectibles as you as you walk around, its just looking at the views. As you walk you get voiceover dialogue about a doctor's life and downfall, as he went from a top docotr to the bottom rung of society. Its a decent game if you like peaceful walking sims. The voiceover dialogue is well done. You have to find the ORBS as you walk around that have words on them to get the achievements. I can recommend this game but don't pay $20 for it like others did. Th negative reviews come from gamers who paid $20 for it. I got it while on special for $3. Worth the $3 as it only takes 45-50 minutes to finish. I enjoyed the walk. Oh, the end is a bit disappointing as it suddenly just cuts short and then short credits roll. I was like..OH IS THAT IT. I felt a little let down by the sudden abrupt end but otherwise its a decent game for $3. Give it a play you might like it .
voice acting is giving burger king foot lettuce guy
