Reviews
I am giving it a positive review because I don't want the dev to stop working on the game. It is a cute and simple idea, but it shouldn't be a day-to-day game... That gets annoying only being able to play it for about 5 minutes a day. A sleep option to go ahead would be nice to get the puppies in and out of the park and be able to play with more of them. It gives Pet Shop by Fisher-Price with less to do.
I wish I could recommend this game because the art work is so cute but it is just SO boring and stagnant. There is so much more the devs could've done with this game and instead it feels like something I'd introduce to my hypothetical child. Which is fine, if this was advertised as a kids game but it wasn't. I can't even call it cozy because there is simply nothing to do! The activities you're given to do are incredibly basic and need to be evolved upon. For example, the grooming should include the user being able to actually cut the dogs hair, trim their nails, brush their teeth etc. Instead, the most you do is click a button and move your mouse around. It's so dull! Also the bugs! Just so many bugs, especially in the tutorial part. It literally makes you not able to play the actual game, you can't click anything.
I am really enjoying this game! I went into it knowing its a very cosy game, designed for 'a little play, but every day', and its scratched the "Nintendogs Lite" itch for me perfectly. I've booted it up most days since purchasing, and the new desktop idle mode is really cute. The dev clearly puts their heart into this; there have been updates so often since release, with features the community ask for, or fixes to bugs - usually on the same *day* somebody brings it up. Its comparable in price to - and currently, cheaper than - a Starbucks coffee, but I'm getting cosy, kidcore enjoyment out of it every day. Definitely recommend if the premise sounds like your thing <3 [Edit] I don't think regular updates are happening anymore, and felt the need to update this review to add that! Though I continue to play, and my point of "a cute kidcore 10 minutes each day" still stands!
I love the art style and my first pup Doug! Looking forward to collecting more coins and making my pups extra happy - it's a lovely, cosy game with a great soundtrack and sound effects which really immerses you. Really looking forward to unlocking more parts and different dogs. I've just unlocked corgis which is very exciting - I wonder who I'll get tomorrow!
After watching this game evolve from the playtest through the release here, I am so in love with it! This little game fills in holes in my heart that Nintendogs left. Bite-sized play means I don't feel like I have to grind things out, and that really helps with my busy schedule. The developer takes feedback super well and I am incredibly excited to see where they go next. Bert, the dachsund is my first visitor and I absolutely snuggled him up.
Really cute game about taking care of cute dogs. Love to see them playing, walking, it is very enjoyable. My only suggestion would be to adjust the water mechanic, since you must use at least two to see any effect. Overall, good game :)
It's a cute little game and I enjoyed it. The dogs are cute, I love that you can take them on walks and play and unlock new breeds and new areas, which make it feel like a real video game. However, I don't like that it must be played every day (possibly multiple times a day) in order to maintain the happiness levels. It's a feature I think would only be good if a parent is trying to teach their kid responsibility before getting them their own dog. Otherwise, it feels like a major commitment of owning a pet but without the snuggles. There's also the screen overlay you can turn on. It opens an animation at the bottom of the screen that makes it difficult to do anything else on the computer, and there's no clear way to close it without opening the task manager and forcing it closed.
I know mixed reviews aren’t usually the best sign for a game… but honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxing this is. Yeah, you can really only play it in short bursts, like 15 minutes at a time, but that’s exactly what it’s meant to be. Think Tamagotchi. Same vibe. You’re taking care of cute dogs, getting them toys, taking them on walks, grooming, feeding them. It’s simple. It’s a little mundane. But weirdly? It’s satisfying. It feels like the perfect “end of a long day” game. You come home, decompress, and just check in on your Puppy Park. No, it’s not Game of the Year. It’s not deep storytelling like Persona, not fast-paced like Borderlands, not suspenseful like Danganronpa. It’s just… nice. I like it. And if the idea of casually taking care of dogs sounds appealing, it might be worth it, especially for the price.
