Puppy Park is a game that sets out to be a daily play game, intended to be played in short bursts like Nintendogs. Unfortunately, this is very much a game that relies on the surface level, and what you see is exactly what you're going to get. And I do mean that quite literally. Every screen you see on the store page is what you get in the game. There are no secrets, no hidden objects or dogs, it is exactly what it shows on the tin. As it stands, despite the art being very cute and the general gameplay loop itself being close enough to Nintendogs to fill five to ten minutes a day, everything that you can get from this game, you can get from the trailer on the store page. There are only nine types of dogs, a few types of toys that all have the same interactivity, and a couple kinds of food types. The unlock tree is huge and unappealing. All walking paths are exactly the same, with no alternate background art between areas. There is no individuality to any of the dogs after unlocking them the first time, and most of the achievements are completely broken regarding having different dogs visit to begin with, and while the developer seems to be actively implementing patches to fix bugs, it doesn't seem as though they reply directly to bug reports on the steam forums. This game, at its core, is hauntingly empty. The first few days of gameplay especially, as the player isn't even given the resources to sufficiently feed or water the pups. Being a hotel game instead of a standard pet raiser, you don't get to name the dogs. Or decide which ones visit. Or anything more than struggling up some money and reputation to ty and keep the dogs relatively pleased enough to struggle up some more money to get the next round of dogs through. I also feel that it's worth mentioning that when I purchased this game, it was listed at a full price of $7.99 with a discount of 30% (so purchase price would be $4.79) and has since dropped to a full price of $4.99. At its current state, I think it was a smart decision to lower the price, but I still feel as though its far too empty an experience to justify the price tag. But hey, there's an idle desktop mode in case you want to accidentally play over the refund window.
sorry, but i don't recommend this game... i've played for about 30 minutes and already encountered 2 bugs. the first one, the game locked me out of doing anything during the tutorial. i couldn't click on anything on the UI because it told me "you can't do that during the tutorial" but there was nothing else for me to do except click on the dog and throw the ball. i had to restart my game to be able to do anything. and second, when feeding and watering my dog, the kibble and water is invisible/doesn't show up. so, unfortunately, this game is too buggy for me to recommend. it's very cute and i like it and i think it has good potential but i shouldn't have experienced 2 annoying bugs like that in only 30 minutes of gameplay. they need to work on this game more before i would recommend people buy it.
The artwork is to die for and the doggos are super duper cute. Unfortunately the gameplay is repetitive and incredibly slow.
I was waiting for some idle "tamagotchi" style game where you can take care of pet and in idle desktop mode, they collect stuff for you... But this is not it, dogs can walk once per day (seriously?), everything is way too expensive. I hardly get food, water and shampoo what is needed. And they don't even satisfy every dogs needs how they should for being expensive af. And how more expensive premium food doesn't even fill puppy's tum? Or how does one corgi need to drink three bottles of water to satisfy it's thirst? Maybe we need update with a vet, since there is something seriously wrong with these puppies... It is kinda like "day care" for puppers, you take care of them for a few days and then they leave and you get money. Some achievements seem to be a lil bugged...
While I appreciate the idea and the tone it's going for, I think the game is currently too underdeveloped to be ready for publishing yet. Not to mention the current patch problems. Can't open it anymore, and for a game that you're supposed to play everyday, that's a problem 😂
People with the negative reviews need to learn how to read. This is a game you spend, at most, 10-15 minutes a day on, as it goes by REAL TIME. Fun little game to pass the time on, I like letting them hang out at the bottom of my screen. I recommend it if you enjoy a game you only need to play on for limited time. People complaining about buying it, boohoo, this game is cheap af, it's reasonably priced for the time you get on it.
Only played a bit, but seems very fun so far! I've been looking for a relaxing, short day play game and it seems I've found it :) This game reminds me so much of the Nintendogs game I used to play when I was a kid!
There is really not much to this game you feed/ water the dogs take them on a walk and bathe them its like a lesser fun Tamagotchi. That is really all you do in this game. I really wanted to like this game because the art work is very cute and PUPPIES who doesn't love puppies but this game is very bare bones when it comes to the content it offers. I really tried to enjoy this game but it got boring sadly after a few days of play.
I would rate this game completely neutral if I could. It's not bad or anything, and I didn't encounter any of the bugs that other negative reviews have mentioned. It's just a very very bare bones game. Progression is slow which is perfect if you are really just looking for a game to play for five minutes a day for a week, but it's just not my cup of tea. Sorta feels bad that you basically have to neglect your dogs needs at the beginning, especially if you have multiple, as you simply don't have the money to feed/groom them all. I time traveled a bit (changing my date and time around) to see if I'd like it more having more stuff to do, but it's just the same thing again and again. The reason why I rate it negative in this case instead of positive is I feel that it just doesn't deliver on it's promise. It is unnecessarily grindy for what should be a five minute game a day. I hope this doesn't discourage the dev from further developing this game, but at the moment it just feels like an unfinished product, which could use a bit more time in the oven.
The dogs are so cute - this is the perfect cozy game to clock into every day. The sound design is so satisfying too. I love having my dogs play while I work on my other screen.
