A neon, arcadey version of air hockey rather than trying to simulate the actual game. Two problems with it: - The AI is superhuman and will beat your ass regularly. - The game insists on putting bumpers in all five of the provided playing fields, so goals against are far more likely to have come off a bumper than your opponent. You're playing caroms more than against anyone. Looks like nice enough, controls well, but would've been a lot more entertaining if you could choose some game parameters, like bringing that AI skill level down a bit, or choosing NO BUMPERS. Thumbs up 'cuz it's free. 5/10
Before I played Puck Bash, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good

Title: PuckBash
Studio Game Changers
Verdict: Worth killing a few minutes
~Gameplay~ - The pacing for this game is way too quick to even follow along where the puck is going. + Different modes offer a different take on air hockey that is exciting to see +/- This game is geared more toward human players than AI players. + Propellers, rounded tables, teleporter walls made for a vastly different game of air hickey than I expected. ~Sound~ + Music was upbeat and exciting. Enjoyed the Music of this game + The sounds of the puck hitting the sides, and when the end happens, you're met with a "Congratulations!" which tickled my fancy. + Audio of this game matched the fast-paced gameplay ~Graphics~ + The neon colors and dark background were awesome! In addition, the background icons made it feel as if I was in an arcade playing this game. + Neon interface made it easy to track the life points + Different colored walls let you know that certain walls could be used as teleporters, which made for an interesting game ~ Plot ~ +/- It's a game of air hockey. No storyline or Plot. ~Misc~ - My biggest gripe was how fast everything was in-game. It was difficult to track the pucks and where they would go. Overview: For a Free game, it was well polished. The U/I is clean, the different modes are easy to track. The game comes with several other tables, so it's not your regular ol' game of air hockey. The developers did a great job making a very presentable game. My favorite mode was by far ' Rocket Arena' since it's the other player and yourself side by side. My biggest negative about this game is the pacing of the puck. After hitting it only a couple times, it becomes challenging to even watch, much less hit the puck when it's coming at you. I stopped moving and just started smashing the Spacebar at one point since I had more luck with that. Overall, a free game worth playing for a few minutes with friends.
I only achieved enough "time played" to review this by leaving it running in the background for that purpose. The control scheme is stupid, & this has no real resemblance to "Air Hockey", digital or otherwise.
hard to control the character in a meaningful way
I like the concept, but everything moves way too fast. There's not enough time to comprehend what's going on, let alone react to it.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There are no available servers and no player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
This is a minimalist "air hockey" themed game with a number of arenas... and nobody to play with, because the technical implementation is incredibly weak, leading this to be a complete and utter failure here on Steam Direct. So, "Puck Bash" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
