not complete but playable. keeps me entertained for sure.

Definitely an awesome concept with nifty swarm mechanics but.. seriously unplayable. Few things I noticed: - Cargo truck troop can't be re-trained, therefore once you lose it, it's gone forever. (Ruins progression) - Roaming AI will just constantly bombard you, especially if they see you once. - Camera can be a little jank at times, not a big deal - No base customisation, at all? You have options to place turrets or collectors but they are useless and die so quickly - AI will just target your buildings and get rid of you, doesn't matter how many friendly troops there are. - Components (the things you need to progress and train troops) DESPAWN?? - Everything besides troops is weak, besides the troops that are necessary for progression? Honestly, the game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's free so try it but you'll want to blow your brains out if you play longer than thirty minutes. Great potential, needs some common sense and decent level or progression design, seriously.
ok!!!
"Prototypers" is certainly an amazing looking RTS but unfortunately the slick visuals aren't met with an equally slick gameplay design... making me wonder if this is a student project or something. What do you do in the game? Well it's an action RTS and it plays okay initially, but you'll quickly find the AI has serious problems, and the game has some of the shoddiest balance I've seen. The thing about RTS games is not mastering the technology to create them, really, RTS games tend to have very simple technical implementations (small maps, just a bunch of units on mostly 2D planes). But they do have to be meticulously polished and balanced so they can be viable vessels for E-sports, or just a good fun campaign like Starcraft. That's not happening here. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. You cannot play this without a console peasant children's toy. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
Before I played Prototypers, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
