PRISM is a fast paced first-person platformer where you try to complete levels in the shortest amount of time. To do so, you get access to three spells : a grapple, a fireball (rocket jump) and ice to keep your momentum. The skill in itself revolves around being able to create combos of these spells and get the most out of them. If you like Neon-White, Fotonica and/or speed techs based games you will love this one. Hunting and discovering new strats has been a blast.
PRISM, created by Mathieu Schmerber and Lucas Deutschmann, is a tightly focused first-person platformer that revolves almost entirely around movement mastery and speed. Rather than building its experience around story or exploration, it places players into a series of compact levels designed to test precision, timing, and the ability to chain mechanics together into smooth, efficient runs. The premise itself is minimal, serving mainly as a backdrop for what is essentially a skill-based challenge where improvement comes from repetition and understanding the systems rather than unlocking new content. The defining strength of the game lies in its movement system, which blends traditional platforming with a set of elemental abilities that expand how players interact with the environment. These powers are not just tools but core components of traversal, allowing for explosive jumps, momentum-based sliding, and grappling-style movement that can be combined in creative ways. At first, these mechanics may feel slightly disjointed, as players are still learning how each one functions, but over time they begin to connect into a cohesive system. The real satisfaction comes from discovering how to link them together, turning what initially feels like careful navigation into something fluid and almost instinctive. Level design plays a crucial role in reinforcing this sense of mastery. Each stage is structured to encourage experimentation, offering multiple paths and subtle opportunities to optimize movement. Early attempts often involve cautious progression, but as familiarity grows, players begin to notice shortcuts and more efficient routes. This gradual shift from survival to optimization is where the game truly shines, as it transforms each level into a space for refinement rather than mere completion. The environments themselves are constructed with clarity in mind, ensuring that players can quickly read the layout and focus on execution rather than deciphering complex visuals. The pacing of the experience is driven by its emphasis on replayability. Rather than extending playtime through a large number of levels or narrative content, PRISM encourages players to revisit stages repeatedly in pursuit of better performance. Leaderboards and time-based challenges reinforce this design, providing a clear measure of progress and a constant incentive to improve. This competitive aspect adds depth for those who enjoy pushing their limits, as even small improvements in timing or movement can lead to noticeable gains. However, this structure also means that the game’s appeal is closely tied to the player’s interest in optimization, as there is little beyond the core loop to maintain engagement. Visually, the game adopts a clean and stylized approach that supports its mechanics without drawing attention away from them. The environments are distinct enough to be recognizable, but they avoid unnecessary detail that might interfere with fast-paced movement. This focus on readability ensures that players can concentrate on timing and positioning, which are essential to the experience. While the presentation is effective, it does not aim to impress on a technical level, instead serving as a functional backdrop for the gameplay. Despite its strengths, the game’s narrow focus can also be limiting. Players who are not particularly interested in refining their performance or replaying levels may find that the experience lacks variety. There are no significant narrative elements or alternative modes to provide a change of pace, and the reliance on a single gameplay loop can make extended sessions feel repetitive. Additionally, the learning curve associated with mastering the movement system may be challenging for newcomers, as it requires both patience and a willingness to experiment. The overall scope of PRISM reflects a deliberate design choice to prioritize depth within a specific area rather than breadth across multiple systems. It does not attempt to cater to a wide audience, instead offering a concentrated experience for those who enjoy precision-based gameplay and the process of gradual improvement. This focus allows it to deliver a polished and consistent experience, even if it does not provide the variety or accessibility found in more expansive titles. In the end, PRISM succeeds as a well-crafted platformer that rewards dedication and skill. Its movement system offers enough flexibility to support creative playstyles, and its level design provides a solid foundation for continuous improvement. While its limited scope and emphasis on replayability may not appeal to everyone, it delivers a satisfying experience for players who enjoy mastering mechanics and striving for perfection. A typical game made from free assets — just speedrunning parkour maps. Cringe. I suggest the developer go find fulfillment in Fortnite or Roblox instead.
Great game add more content
The game is "OK" it's extremely barebones but that's pretty much what's expected when paying $1 for a game. The game kinda just throw you in when you open the game. Is the game fun to play for about an hour? Yeah but would I play this over other speedrunning games, No. There are demos to other speedrunning games with more than quadruple the amount of levels you can play for free that feel better. Again the game is $1 so it's a good time killer if you're bored.
Very nice game overall, The mechanics are simple yet allow you to be very creative by chaining them together offering a wide variety of possible and fun routes for each available level. If you like speedrun / die and retry and grinding to have your name on a leaderboard then I can only recommend the game. This part is for the dev team: - Sometime the ingame sensivity seem to change by itself for a few sec (specially when messing around with the hook) -Also the possibility to remap the controls would be nice -Last but not least: I will find a way to beat those cheater scores of yours on the leaderboard CAUSE I KNOW THEY AINT LEGIT :)
What's this chicken ? 🐔 who cooked it ?👨🍳 Fun, enjoyable, only you and this prodigious gameplay ! 👾 Rockstar games can go get redressed. 🫳🏻🎤
