Works fine on Linux. I use startup options found on protondb, as they helped a bit with mouse cursor being inaccurate. gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -f -- %command% As for game itself, it's the same thing I played years ago on my winxp box, but sadly not the best version of it. As from what I could read up there is China only version that has the widescreen support patch and couple other fixes (I think you can buy it on steam for like $1 by searching 秦殇 steam on google). As for the game itself, it's Diablo 2 with a twist that you can have multiple characters that will vanish on their demise, so you will play it safer for a while and grind up some "lower level" mobs to just be that bit stronger. Story is a okay, there are some twists and turns, but for the time it's a good one. Controls tend to be a bit clunky, like main character moving somehow way faster than everyone else, mobs glitching in a weird way, or PC's moving around and taking a ton of damage to just try and hit that one enemy. Ye it takes a patience and a guide to get some things in Story Mode, but I would rather take a friend and play MP so you can create your own character and not be forced to play the main character. If you like older diablo clones, it's a fine one, and if you are looking for another "asian based arpg" blade and sword is one I played as a kid and is fine too.
If you played this few years ago, this is exactly the same as that game. No optimisation made and 1024x768 max resolution. This is a good game. Too bad no effort was made to optimise it. Not recommended for modern computers lol
I don't want to recommend this game generally, but it's a good nostalgia tour if you happened to get to play this game around the era it was released in. I want to say this game came with a random bundle pack my mom picked up somewhere not knowing what made for a good PC game, and as much as my modern tastes here have let me down, the game is better than you might guess. That said, modern tastes have spoiled me and the game mechanics are not great for the single player campaign at least. It's playable, and the historical fiction set in Fantasy china is cool, but like Kong Gang the muscleman, that concept does a disproportionate amount of the weight carrying. If I'm being honest, this game would probably play a lot better if it were a tactical turn based battle, like XCOM, since a lot of the clunkiness is just from clicking around and your party walking to an enemy then doing a few laps around them before doing anything useful. I find I often have to pause, select each character individually and queue up actions and then unpause and let things run for a few seconds. The astute among you will recognize this is turn based battle with extra steps - but your mileage my vary. The dialog options are full of cultural stuff that I think gets lost in translation, so you might struggle playing through the game without a walkthrough on a second screen to refer to when the morality checks don't make much sense to westerners, and to be honest I don't actually mind this. It would have been a disservice to localize it, and for better or worse, we're getting a better approximation of someone's interpretation of period specific Chinese culture. If you've played this game decades ago, grab it and play it until you can't be bothered to finish. If you're a big fan of ARPGs and don't mind fighting the UI and can get this on a decent sale, try it out. Otherwise, maybe if you're interested, watch a play through online somewhere and be like "oh wow, that was a neat little project that someone made over 20 years ago".
Great game from my childhood, while it has some issues running on modern hardware it is still fun nevertheless. Reminder with alot of these really old games to enable Compatibility mode on the game's main EXE file, it makes alot of differences.
Budget Chinese version of Baldur's Gate. Semi-open world, many areas are unlocked from the beginning, some locked behind main quest progression. Plot itself was a nice change from typical heroic-fantasy games, dialogues are often funny (but I doubt it was dev's intention) and try to educate about morality/ethics. I've tried to do all side quests and beating the game took me about ~30 hours. Character development incorporates dozens of skills per every available class, our party can count up to five heroes, that can be found throughout our journey. Game offers variety of items and interesting five-element system works in a rock-paper-scissor fashion (so water beats fire, fire beats metal etc.) but there is additional mechanic that lets items with certain element unlock 'hidden' properties of another item with corresponding element (for example water ring could unlock additional power in wood weapon). Despite things I've just mentioned combat is rather repetitive due to low variety in enemies, mostly we are fighting humans or animals and just few monsters (about five total - including unique ones), that makes the setting more 'real' as the fantasy part is really limited - which isn't necessarily bad for the game. Refreshing mix of western approach to cRPGs with eastern mindset, discounted it costs around $2, so I think it's worth a try.
