As America's top RDM'er, I would say this is a fine game. Reminds me a lot of the old Novalogic games. Needs some work for sure, but good fun with the lads.
The game is ok, however a game like this needs dedicated server capability. Has quite a bit of work to be done on movements. Feels a bit slow to respond with mouse and keyboard. Refunded for now, but will keep an eye out for future updates and would consider buying again if the game is improved upon. Cannot recommend in its current state.
If Counter-Strike Nexon and Call of Duty had a baby, it'd be Portable Ops. It's a blast from start to finish!
Portable Ops: ... It's A Game. I guess.
I mean, it is a game. That's for sure. But honestly, but as of writing—this feels like a fever dream. I don't even know if the developers playtested or not, but the whole game feels... weird. I've had some bugs in my playthrough, as not being able to click the buttons at the end of the mission thingies... and being able to open a menu... on the menu. I once again, have no idea how to explain how this game feels. It just screams "badly made and rushed" but I don't know anymore. Missions are okay, but the UI and overall gameplay makes me want to scream. It's like shovelware you would find in the playstore and would be named "Counter Duty Shooting Games FPS 2012 Free Counter Terrorist Missions". Animations, AI and models are hilariously bad, performance issues everywhere. (even with a high end PC like mine, which mind you, can run GTA 5 and other games just fine) You can repeat events by just stepping into the trigger zones (for example, the first mission) You can see how bad it is by yourself, since I ain't no great reviewer. I would gift this to my friends as a joke, though. If you want something like this but better and feel like they actually put some love and care into it, check out Black One Blood Brothers. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1621560/Black_One_Blood_Brothers/ EDIT: The developers responded. I was NOT expecting that. I thought they were some sort of shovelware company that never responds to their customers, now I really feel bad for my rude review. I do hope this game does get better, it is literally the thing I want while I wait for a new Ghost Recon game.
Pretty epic game, recommended, will be playing more
Portable Ops is a great action, "blast from the past" experience you're sure to enjoy. It is a short experience but engaging. The new story update put the puzzle pieces together for the story, and added some nice new gameplay features. The game adds challenge and as you progress, it has you searching and exploring. It is a bit pricey but if you want a nice nostalgic trip and closest related game would probably be black hawk down. I can provide a pros and cons list to break this down. The game also includes multiplayer and coop but there are some bugs. The developers are actively updating and fixing the game, and listen to feedback. There are also extra missions that just blew me away and reminded me of over the top MGS VR missions, like the T-Rex/dinosaurs secret mission, sneaking through the jungle trying to survive, being hunted. Not all missions are a hit but they're are definitely some good experimental ones. Pros: Nostalgic, black hawk down old school feeling. Action packed addicting campaign. Good story. Funny voice overs. Multiplayer/Coop, even includes another game within the game called Titan Turrets, but an older version. Extra fun missions. Solid campaign/gameplay. Cons: Might be too pricey because it's not for everyone. Short campaign game, but plenty of extra missions. You will find bugs, and glitches, but reporting them gets them fixed. Multiplayer/Coop issues. Voice acting could use some work. Graphics are decent but could be better with today's tech. The game might not be for everyone but I enjoyed my experience with it. If you're the type that easily forks over for a cod skin, buying this game and supporting an indie developer shouldn't be an issue.
It was a fun experience overall and things get intense with funny moments..
