This game is really good, but it's clearly abandoned. In the FAQ, it says the devs want to add online multiplayer, but they clearly don't even exist to add it anymore. And the game's "website" is now a World of Warcraft fan's page for documenting strategies and gameplay, because apparently the devs can't be bothered to keep their own website. It's a good game, and I DO recommend it, but if you're looking for any sort of support or updates, don't bother.

2025 Game doesn't run past the first bootup. Tutorial froze so I reset and now just gives me a blue screen of death. Check other negative reviews, it's seems pretty common.

as much as it saddens me to say this game has begun to fall apart, me and my brother love this game but due to age and neglect from the developer the workshop work around is having ALOT of big problems the main one is failure to download from his workshop even if the file successfully uploads. and as a enemy maker of our campaign its very frustrating to attempt to find whats breaking the enemy's download which is often a normal attack asset. so till fixed i would not recommend.

You can play it once, then next loadup you will get an error that stops you from playing due to "most likely cause is that the game has been blocked by your anti virus software". even with the game being flaged as fine this message will continue until you remove and reinstall the game. then it will go away while you play once until you log out. and then come back again. Just checked, and this error continues even if antivirus is turned off.

Game has not worked for a long time. It will start once if you reinstall, after that you just get a screen stating it is blocked due to your anti-virus. This is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lie. With my nearly 20 years on Steam this is the only game I have every had this issue with.

Great game to do some RPG runs with wackey characters and scenarios. Although if you hate puns, you'll hate this. Creating your own characters and abilities is a bit complex with all the states and actions and reactions you have available but there are a bunch of characters available on the workshop (in-game workshop, not steam workshop). I do worry what will happen if their servers ever shut down though, would be a shame to lose that functionality. It can have some bad scaling; I believe it scales encounters based on charm power (meta progression thing that buffs your party) so if you get some bad initiative rolls you can sometimes lose a character or your whole party on the first turn. If you get some good rolls, you can sometimes wipe out the encounter on the first turn though. I really like how it recommends cards to use and targets (although don't just blindly double click on them, depending on the card/whats around, it may select a party member to attack), and if I'm not feeling a party, I can just set all the characters to AI controll and basically play it as an auto-battler. Just got re-into this and have been playing a lot the past month and really liking it just to load it up and do a quick mission/story when I need to unwind.

The game was amazing for the time being but now its unplayable cannot end your runs and after you do manage to finish a campaign your stuck on the screen and cannot return to the menu you also have to go into the files for the game and delete _temp every time you want to just play if they fix it in the hopefully near future I will return to it but for now there's other options for time wasters

I have rarely come across a game that has the replayability of this one. Not to mention the top notch voice acting of John de Lancie and Mat Mercer! The workshop is one of the best and creators can upload whole campaigns not just items and characters. More people should know about this game!

The game itself is really fun and I love the tools it gives you, but I ran into a major graphical bug that made the game hit me with a strobe-light effect on a consistent basis. I tried reaching out to the developers and publisher for support, but neither party responded to my inquiries. I looked into it further, and the developer seems to be defunct, so I'm assuming this game is abandoned, which really sucks, because it's an incredible foundation for what could've become something truly great.

It's a damn shame, this game had so much potential but it is a buggy mess. I finished the tutorial and got stuck by selecting the wrong choice at the end. I couldn't end the run and start over, I had to Alt+F4 just to close the program. Then it wouldn't let me back into the game. I got stuck on a splash page with a message about how anti virus software can sometimes block the program from running. I followed all the instructions and I'm still stuck. By all accounts the devs have abandoned this game, so don't waste your money or your time.
