Start small, but as your success grows, establish a thriving literary studio. Hire editors, illustrators, and marketing specialists to help you reach new heights. Eventually, you can even become a publisher and decide what gets released—both your own works and other authors’ manuscripts.

Dare to experiment with various genres—try gripping sci-fi, moving romance, or a mysterious thriller. You can also create books in multiple formats (print, e-book, or audiobook) and expand your audience to capture the hearts of different reader groups.

While writing, you’ll enter the unique Focus Screen mode, where you choose what aspect of your work to emphasize—deep characters, thrilling twists, or captivating settings. Making the right calls opens up new possibilities and exciting add-ons for your final masterpiece.

Pick the right publisher or gradually become a publisher yourself. After each release, pay close attention to reviews—feedback from critics and fans will help you refine your work and transform good books into true literary masterpieces.

Plot Twist not only boosts your creativity but also offers entertaining mini-games to give you a break from constant writing. On top of that, you’ll face various narrative challenges and unexpected events during writing and promotion, bringing new opportunities or hurdles to overcome.

By consistently writing and releasing books, you’ll unlock new abilities—from captivating plot structuring to masterful prose and impactful marketing strategies. Keep evolving to stay ahead of the competition and secure your place among the literary elite.

Bring talented individuals into your studio—editors, illustrators, and marketing pros—to help elevate your work. Each team member has their strengths and weaknesses, and the right mix of experts can turn any manuscript into a true bestseller!

Plot Twist is a management simulation developed and published by Sagittarius Fox that takes a unique approach to the tycoon genre by placing players inside the competitive world of writing and publishing. Instead of building cities, operating businesses centered around manufacturing, or managing transportation systems, the game focuses entirely on the journey of becoming a successful author while navigating the creative and commercial realities of the publishing industry. Combining career progression systems with business management mechanics, Plot Twist transforms literary ambition into a long-term simulation experience built around strategy, planning, and growth. The game begins with players taking control of a writer attempting to build a name within a demanding industry. Success does not happen immediately. Reputation, audience reach, and creative development all require careful management. Players gradually move from small beginnings toward larger opportunities, creating a progression structure that mirrors the slow climb many creative careers demand. The feeling of growth becomes one of the strongest aspects of the experience because advancement feels earned rather than automatically granted. Writing itself forms the center of progression, but Plot Twist expands beyond simply producing books repeatedly. The game explores the business side of creative work by asking players to make decisions that influence long-term success. Genre selection becomes an important strategic choice, with different audiences responding to different literary styles. Deciding what to write and how to position creative work introduces meaningful management decisions that keep progression engaging over time. The publishing systems add another layer of depth that helps separate Plot Twist from simpler career simulators. Building a successful writing career eventually creates opportunities to expand beyond individual projects. Players gain the ability to establish larger operations and oversee broader publishing activities. Growth transforms the experience from managing a single creator into overseeing a larger literary business, creating a satisfying sense of expansion as ambitions continue growing. Hiring additional talent becomes increasingly important as operations expand. Editors, illustrators, and other specialists contribute toward strengthening production quality and supporting larger goals. Building an effective team introduces management considerations beyond writing itself, encouraging players to balance creative development with smart business decisions. This gradual increase in responsibility creates satisfying momentum that keeps progression feeling meaningful. The game also recognizes that modern publishing extends beyond traditional printed material. Multiple publishing formats become available, introducing additional strategic considerations regarding audience reach and distribution choices. Adapting to changing market opportunities becomes part of maintaining long-term success. These systems help the publishing industry feel more dynamic while reinforcing the business simulation elements supporting the overall experience. Smaller gameplay activities also contribute positively to pacing. Additional interactive systems help break up longer stretches of management decisions while maintaining player involvement throughout progression. These moments provide variety and help prevent gameplay from becoming overly dependent on menu navigation or numerical optimization. One of Plot Twist's most appealing qualities comes from how unusual its premise feels within the simulation genre. Creative industries rarely receive this level of focus in management games. The publishing setting gives the experience stronger personality because it explores an area often overlooked by business simulators. Players interested in writing, publishing culture, or creative careers may find the concept particularly engaging because it offers progression systems built around a less familiar theme. The visual presentation supports gameplay effectively without creating unnecessary complications. Menus remain organized and readable while progression systems stay understandable enough to support accessibility. Simulation games often depend heavily on usability, and Plot Twist generally succeeds at keeping information manageable while allowing larger systems to develop naturally over time. The game's specialized focus naturally shapes its audience. Players searching for action-heavy gameplay or extremely detailed economic simulation systems may find the structure more focused than expected. Much of the enjoyment comes from appreciating career progression and management systems tied specifically to publishing and literary development. The narrower concept may not appeal universally, but players drawn toward creative industry simulations will likely appreciate that commitment. What helps Plot Twist stand out most is its ability to transform artistic ambition into satisfying management gameplay. The game understands that success in creative industries depends on balancing passion with practical decisions, and it builds progression systems around that reality effectively. Watching a small writing career slowly evolve into something larger creates rewarding long-term progression that remains engaging throughout development. Plot Twist succeeds by offering a refreshing variation on the management simulation formula. Through writing systems, business expansion, publishing strategies, and creative decision-making, it delivers an experience that feels both unusual and rewarding. While its premise remains specialized, that uniqueness becomes one of its strongest advantages, creating a simulation experience that stands apart by exploring creativity as both art and business. Having fun so far! The visuals are nice and the game seems nicely polished.
super
I can't recommend this game. In this state, the game is just a clicker that shows itself as something more, but the endgame is missing. Like you own your company with 4400% market share, you have 2000 million, and you upgade everthing to full then nothing. Money is useless after you upgrade your room to the max; company is useless except for the achievement, and most of the upgrade is not necessary. Oh, the last achievement is bugged, so you can't do 100% either.
If you love Game dev Tycoon, so this game will not offend you. But to nitpick some negatives- it's a point and click game compared to GDT, so it's not that relaxing, the bubbles could be a bit bigger to make them easier to hit or at least add a setting for mouse sensitivity, and for me there's terribly little content. I'm 5,6 hours into the game and apart from two achivments (because achivment international success is buggy and speaking of bugs, when I finally started my own publishing house I can't write a book, the game always gets stuck) I've completely finished the game. As for the 5€, it's a very good game for one evening, but only one.
O jogo é bom, mas o preço ainda não vale, precisa de ideias novas, pois o jogo começa a ficar repetitivo, oriento a comprar na promoção.
Cozy and adorable especially for people who like books. A bit of a puzzle and fast paced point & click, slightly repetitive after awhile but still worth playing. I wish there were more fun side quest mini games in between creating books, i.e. like the typing sentences fast & correctly mini game that's popped up once for me. I can't wait to see what the developers do with this game!
You can more or less finish the game within 2 hours. It's just making up titles and clicking on boubles. That's it. And eventho it's such a basic (and boring) game, it can't run of older computer. If you want someone like this, play game dev instead
Very realistically presented. In the beginning, the books don't earn much so you have to go do side work, great, I recommend it. very beautiful cozy game many genres many possibilities...
Enjoy this game for its simplicity and literary references. This is an easy game to pick up after a long day and play for a little while at a time, without much thinking involved. My biggest gripe is that the "Job" function did not work for me at all: I never received money after completing jobs -- basically making me play the game on hard mode and constantly put out top-reviewed books just to keep afloat. If that bug was fixed, I would have no problem fully recommending this game.
