Planet Surf: The Last Wave

The game is ok. Just not my cup of tea. You are supposed to catch certain symbols by using purposely squishy controls and a wave that goes around a tiny planet. I faild in stage 2. It is just hard and no fun. But if you like that type of "no real control"-games, go for it. It works. Even on steam deck.

Planet Surf: The Last Wave is a 2D minimalist 2-button action game where you "surf" on planetoids (by switching between left and right to propel yourself along waves as they come by). It doesn't really "work" at trying to recreate the concept of surfing, no small part of which is the 2D side view that just doesn't work for a "surfing" concept. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes this is a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Planet Surf: The Last Wave is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

Great game! I already imagined it would be fun to surf the waves of the planets but I was surprised because it's so much better! Congratulations to the Devs! Besides being fun, it's relaxing :) To infinity and beyond!

Charming graphics and music, challenging gameplay.

It’s a refreshing break from the usual and a pleasant surprise on Steam!

This game is great! I finished the 14 levels in about an hour's time, but only paid $0.59 so well worth the price. A few levels really make you sit down and learn the few mechanics at play, and i had a blast the entire time. I made a video with some of my gameplay https://youtu.be/uxhlmUwDQfo

右手をマウスから解放したいときに、おすすめ。 とってもシンプル。 Arrow keysでも操作できるし、WASDでもできる。 Spaceでpumpするタイミングが重要、すごく大事。 Planet surfと言うより、flabby blub surfって感じがする。

Relaxing and flowing in this waves!

A very different and innovative game, with the theme of Surfing, this game has mechanics reminiscent of the old arcade games from the Olympics. Very fun and nostalgic. I recommend!
