(ツ)_/¯Planet Breakout 2

Before I played Planet Breakout 2, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
I'm giving this a thumbs up but with some caveats. This is game clearly designed by a single person and, as they've noted, using a native programming language instead of a development engine. That doesn't mean its bad at all. In fact, its quite good and if you like Arkanoid clones you won't be too disappointed. That said, its clear from the pictures that the game doesn't have a lot of graphic polish and parts of the interface could be labeled better. There really aren't very many pre-made levels either and its not clear that there is a way for the user community to share their creations. If you are the type of gamer who is going to get snooty about an underpolished indie game, you probably just ought to pass on this now. But if the idea playing a small breakout clone to kill an hour or two of time appeals to you, then I would give this a solid recommendation. Again, its a bit light on levels, but for free, you can't really complain about the price.

It's Breakout, it's free, what else is there to say?
"Planet Breakout 2" is a shameless ripoff of "Breakout", copyright Atari, 1976. To date, no legal action has been taken against the developer by Atari, but it's never off the cards. One DMCA request and Valve will have no choice but to remove this infringing product from Steam. This also breaks one of the fundamental rules of stealing someone else's game design (and in this case, trademark as well)... you have to at least try to make something better than the product design you stole. This is considerably worse than the original Breakout. Because this is just Breakout, but from Temu, all you do is bounce balls with a paddle. Ho hum. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
10/10! PB2 redefines the breakout genre! The ability to build your own levels is so unique & fun! I love this game!

Love the use of color and fonts in the cleanly designed menus. Game play is a lot of fun. Definitely gets the hand-eye coordination going. Makes me think a bit of that old school game 'pong' while reminding me of when I used to throw a rubberized baseball at a wall to practice fielding on the rebound when I was a kid.
