A mobile port yes, but with more depth and ambition than any mobile game I've ever played. This is however a double edged sword, Steam players expect more polish, more depth and a more refined product, much more so than a mobile game. But saying that, what Pixel Starships has to offer can not be rivalled for it's complexity in the mobile market, and quite frankly there are a lot of PC based games that lag far behind too. If you like exploring the intricacies of AI, strategy and the myriad of options available in a game, this game is for you. It's not a pick up and be the best kind of game, skill is very important, understanding the minutia of the AI options and what can be achieved with them takes time, and you can learn all this while waiting for your rooms to upgrade. You can of course speed it up with the in game currency of Bux, which can be bought with real money, and at the high end of game play it almost becomes a necessity, but by that point you're already hopelessly lost in the game, and the communities that spring up around it. For the best experience possible, it is highly advised to join a reputable fleet, that has training fleets and resources to help you in your journey, join the official Discord, read the Pixel Perfect Guide (A quick google will take you there) and take off to a massively enjoyable online game. I also want to point out that the developers, Savy Soda are a small team based in Melbourne, Australia, they work tirelessly to fix bugs (of which there are many) and improve game play, it can at times become frustrating for the player base, but at the end of the day the community is strong, provides feedback to Savy and they listen and cater to the players as much as they feel is possible, which can't be said about a lot of small developers, or even big ones. TL;DR Pixel Starships will make you laugh, it will make you cry and pull your hair out, but above all it will give you hours of game play from a simple yet deeply complex concept

A simple mobile game that uses various methods to get you to pay with real money for additional abilities or to increase speed (the common predatory methods that most mobile game use).

Has a little bit of pay-to-win stuff, some LEDHDTVADDADHD+ woke nonsense, but overall a bretty gud way of killin time if you got nothing better to do and are bored. 6/10
oldie but a goodie
For a simple 2d 1v1 space game with some fleet structure to it, this game is pretty addicting. Yes, there are pay-to-play aspects, but overall, I really enjoy the format. The combat is somewhat repetitive, but the frequent updates tend to keep the game pretty fresh. Overall, really enjoying the experience after nearly a year of play.
nice
