I loved the atmosphere and liked the game in the beginning. Late game however, the game becomes a serious chore. My cannons were powerful enough to blast the crew out of the highest level of enemy ships before the boarding timer ran out. It also seems that enemies, how you level and the kind of pirates that you can hire is unbalanced. The pirates I bought late game were significantly stronger than those that I leveled during the whole game. Late game, they could not die anymore. What makes it a chore is: - Searching for the items you need, the shop island and their shops are so random that it sometimes requires me to sail 20% of the map to buy or sell an item.- Looting a ship is a serious chore. - Waiting for the ship to arrive on the next destination.- Cleaning up your inventory- Trying to figure out for each skillbook whether a given pirate doesn't have it yet and whether it could be useful.- Building a ship, every time I rebuild my ship I wonder why I can not just drag with a certain block. In the end, I never found the other 3 boss enemies that I had to kill to win the game since after 3 hours of sailing around and bumping onto no resistance whatsoever, finishing the game felt more like a chore than something fun.

honestly don't know how your supposed to even go about this game... a game all about pirates but NO ONE CAN SWIM, meaning if you get too close to an edge that's it, almost instant game over, and it happens A LOT other skills such as repair, clean, cook, etc. are super rare finds, when they should be basic skills anyone can have, but nope, ya gotta find them, and good luck not having your entire crew run you out of money and leave you for dead the ship building can be fun, but without having to intentionally exploit the game, gaining ship parts legitimately takes hours and is entirely RNG based, meaning a galleon sized ship may only give you 2 or 3 wood hull blocks and nothing else overall not very fun, and its "tutorial" is a textbook of dialogue that you have to sit down and take an hour to read before doing anything else in the game, lest you do something wrong and get killed on the starting island
YARRRRR, THERE BE TREASURE! Maybe.
You will get my vote for Labor of Love this year
