Reviews
A fun pirate game with a ton of potential, but lacking some finishing touches. Crew control & combat are poorly explained and executed, but the fights are still exciting. Super addicting and worth checking out if on sale!
dev never finished game now comes back after how many years heres a negative review for you being a lazy horrbile person may this game hopefully get more negative reviews.

this the first game i bought on Steam, support u do it great. ================================================================================================== 制作者还能继续更新,真的挺不容易的,这还是我进STEAM买的第一个游戏,希望能有个善终吧。
Gosh what a delightfully silly and addictive game. I love that the devs have continued to update it too. I haven't actually put over 100 hours into it, I've left it on by accident over night and over a weekend away, but I still actually spent probably close to 60 hours actively playing and loving it. I eventually defeated the legendary pirates, and considered it "finished" but now that a while later I see the game has grown quite a bit since then, I am excited to start a whole new adventure and get even more hours of fun for my dollar. Two thumbs up. Gotta join that Diaper Brotherhood yo.
Pixel Piracy is far from being a perfect game, but it has it's merits. The mechanics are not the most intuitive, but once you get a rudimentary understanding of how to play it becomes a really fun swashbuckling roguelike. I really appreciate the crew building and training, as well as the frustration that comes with having to start over when a highly-trained crew member dies and it's time to seek out a tavern. I think it would be really easy to jump into this game and give up right away--there's no tutorial to speak of, and that makes it a steep learning curve despite the big green help button on the action bar. However, if you're persistent and let the game teach you through failure, you might discover that you've suddenly lost hours out of the day while searching for treasure.
So, as others mentioned, the game is abandoned (not cool). It has bugs (the captain gets stuck on the island and won't move…) which are kind of annoying. You would need to restart the game in order to fix them. Next, the game is unreasonably slow (pirate movement). Since each island is big, from the ship to the destination, it takes 2-3 min and the way back another 5-6. The graphics are good, but the animation? The devs were very lazy to animate the movement of the NPC. The way it walks is weird (the game changes the position of the NPC from XY to XY). The island animation is too fast (palms, trees, movement) and distracts from the map's activity. Gameplay: The goal is to kill 4 pirates. You start from scratch with a crew of 2 and grow up to N pirates. Sometimes you buy stuff from the town. Once a crew member dies, it's really hard to find another big town and recruit a new member. After some time, the game gets really hard, giving you 0 tips and tricks (basically forcing you to make stupid mistakes and start over). The main process in the game could be described as: grinding money, updating skills for the crew, getting weapons, destroying the enemy's ship and camps, and repeating. It's just boring. The current state of the game is pre-alpha. The game doesn't have common sense in some scenarios. The AI is kinda dumb. The UI of the game is terrible.
its a fun game. you can go hard and micro manage your crew and supplys or just sorta wing it and have fun. great game.
This game is playable for a $1 game, definitely not worth anything over that with the content you get or the developer you'd be supporting. 1/10 at the current store price, 5.5/10 if you can get on sale for under 2 dollars.
Repetitive and boring fast.
new updates from the game dev, excited to see whats in store <3
