The game is fun for... 2 or 3 hours, aprox. I wouldn't recommend to buy it, as it was fully abandoned for Pixel Piracy Online. No new content, nor future upgrades to the game are scheduled, so, no.
This game is so badly designed. Controls don't even work well, and I can go on a rant on why else this game is actual garbage. The intro part of the game leaves you wondering how to play. What the heck? Do not buy this game ever. It's almost StarForge levels bad.

a concept i loved that was wholly abandoned fraught with bugs and no real structure. the framework was glorious. the dev was a scoundrel.
Developer has returned and regularly updated the game once a week for over half a year now. Even before that, I revisit this game at least 2 times a year and go on a short binge. Now that the game is being updated, I love seeing all the new changes!
if i knew this guy was a piece of ♥♥♥♥ grifter purely capitalizing off terraria i would've never bought this crap. THEN he tried to do it again
It's a trash. Doesn't even cost 1$
dev is back!
I actually had supported this game in early access almost 10 years ago. It was abandoned by the dev, despite knowing there were game breaking bugs that blocked progression. So now hes back updating the game, don't support bad actors like this. They took the money and walked away, read the original reviews. A 2nd attempt to cash in or to rebrand this crap for re-release
So bad but so good when it works. Despite my double-edged review I still cannot recommend this in the slightest. Dev is a hack and this game should be avoided at all cost. Buy Sid Meier's Pirates if you want to get that pirate high. Not only does it have barley bugs if any, but has a surprisingly active modding community after you've appreciated vanilla.
Pixel Piracy has a genuinely fun core loop — building your ship, recruiting and leveling a crew, and sailing around looking for trouble scratched a real itch for a while. The pixel art style has charm and it was my most-played game for a stretch. That said, the game sits in a frustrating limbo: the developer Vitali abandoned it for years, came back briefly with updates and a DLC, then left again — and the pattern of abandonment followed by hype cycles has repeated enough times that it's hard to trust any renewed activity. The community drama, forum bans, and the pivot toward crowdfunding an MMO sequel only deepen the concern. If you can grab it on a steep sale and go in with zero expectations of a finished product, there's something enjoyable buried here — but at full price, I can't recommend it.
