Pixel Art Academy: Learn Mode

Great learning tool that's broken down step by step. I'm having a lot of fun completing the lessons and projects. A great resource for anyone looking to learn pixel art, and just a fun chill time doing the little exercises. Highly recommend!

Buen juego, fácil de aprender si no sabes nada de pixel y te aburre empezar de videos y no sabes por donde empezar este es tu juego. Llevo tiempo queriendo aprender pixel art, miraba videos y no tenia claro el por qué hacian lo que hacian ahora lo sé. eso es lo bueno... AHORA LO MALO: está solo en inglés: no hay problema si sabes ingle como yo. Pero si no sabes ingles, puede que no aprendas o entiendas algunas explicaciones y te lleve a dejar el juego. Tiene MUCHOS bugs. se entiende que es acceso anticipado y por eso haya bugs. es entendible ningún juego es perfecto PERO hay una parte donde no hay NADA más por hacer y sigo teniendo tareas que no puedo iniciar porque me faltan cosas. pero no hay nada más que hacer. (estaría bueno que al clickear lo que te falta te mande a donde tenes que ir para desbloquearlo. a parte de eso es un buen juego

Pixel Art Academy is at the moment in early access still, but Retro has already surpassed my university in creating a curriculum that is not only fulfilling, but is excellently paced. The program starts you from the ABSOLUTE basics of art and continues to build upon it in a way that makes it feel as if youre being gently guided on. Most of the lessons (as of now) primarily focused on you tracing and coloring premade lines and shapes which I've seen people complain about. Honestly, I like this approach, there's always a blurb about what the lesson is demonstrating. Once I finish it, I like to zoom all the way out and really look at what I specifically did and what I can learn from it. I'm so excited to keep messing with this program as I wait for more lessons to roll out.

A great guide to creating pixel art, with practical tutorials, lots of reference material and plenty of objectives to keep you going. I have learned a lot by going through the material and challenges.

Beautiful presentation, I have done a bit of pixel art myself but wanted to see if this game would teach me anything new, which it has already. As some other reviews have said it can be a bit samey with making you draw exactly copying what the artist wants you to draw like a "connect the dots" drawing game, but anybody who has been to school can tell you that this is something you have to do in some regard for any kind of learning. The presentation of the entire environment is also gorgeous, with beautiful retro elements sprinkled through, even in unnecessary things like an incredibly charming animation for switching which song is playing in the background with you putting an actual cassette in a player. Basically my only complaint is that the jazz sometimes gets incredibly intense, much too much for the vibe of trying to draw- at times it gets incredibly reminiscent of the music that plays when you're fighting a Guardian in BOTW, which for somebody who vibes while I draw are important can be quite jarring 😅 But you can swap out the music so that's fine too Edit: Having used it further later on it gets to a section with a lot of theory and explanation of the math of pixel art, which is just absolutely beautiful and something I would never have intuited by just drawing on my own
