Pinball Arcade

Let me preface this by saying I would not recommend the game as it is now. Where this game shines is as a view through the history of pinball and celebration of the game. Some pinball video games throw some flippers on a board and call it a day, but there are years of expertise and thought put into these real tables that makes me keep coming back. These tables are represented well here. Some standouts for me are Black Knight 2000 and Banzai Run. Unfortunately, the Williams & Bally table licenses were lost and the game is no longer being developed. It's a shame because there were some Data-East tables I would have liked to have seen recreated here. Mainly Jurassic Park 1993.

This game lost everything to Pinball FX when the Williams license was pulled. Still has really good Stern and Gottlieb tables, but honestly it's a shell of what it used to be. Sadly some of the tables lost have not been remade yet anywhere else. So if you were looking for those, you're out of luck.

A bit outdated by today's standards but a fantastic collection of classic games! I played this game many years ago and it was the start of my digital pinball journey that would last for years to come! some absolutely fantastic games in here, but some very outdated and last generation graphics and physics! Even without the Bally Williams license for the game anymore some of the classic Gottlieb and Stern tables are still absolutely fantastic fun!

This is, and still remains, my favorite pinball game. I play in 4K with HDR, and despite their age, the tables still look fantastic. Especially when you set the room lighting to 5% and the table lighting to 85%, it really makes them shine. The table physics feel far more realistic to me than, for example, Pinball FX, which is why Pinball Arcade remains my top choice. Luckily, I already owned the Williams/Bally tables, since that license is now in the hands of FX. Still, there are plenty of great Stern and Gottlieb tables to enjoy, and there’s always a free-to-play table available. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the menu. It feels outdated, and there was clearly a lot more potential there. That said, for a free-to-play game, this is still a strong recommendation. Especially if you can pick up some Stern or Gottlieb tables during a sale.

I had this on console back in the day and it was awesome, but the modern version here requires a $150 addon to play on cabinet mode that all their competitors include for free, Yes, that's $150, not $15! It's an unbelievably outrageous money grab that is a slap in the face to any true pinball player looking for an authentic experience on a cabinet build. I could see maybe $10-15, or the price of a game, as some others do charge for extra features, and that's ok, but $150 is totally unacceptable. For that price you could buy an old Atgames HD cab that includes 22 of the Gottlieb tables, which is already most of what they offer here. This one just isn't worth getting and the free table isn't great either.

For a computer simulation, this is a pretty accurate representation of real pinball. It's enjoyable to play and worth the spend. I sure wish that the table packs were cheaper or went on sale.

There is a singular free table, the rest are DLC and you cannot unlock them through progression.
