Very good indie 3D platformer. Super Mario Odyssey movement with 3D World / Galaxy level design. Fun to 100%.
It's a janky clone of Mario Galaxy and Odyssey, down to the bubble in Rosalina's Observatory. No ideas, no polish, no shine -- I really don't understand why you would play this over the originals.
Amazing game. Had a very fun time. Would definitely buy again.

Annoying finicky controls. Piss-poor save system. Redefined controls are not matched by ingame glyphs.
This game is indie super mario galaxy. If you like 3D platformers you will love this
I'm willing to accept a lot of jank for indie platformer games, but this is just too much. The character controls like it has 15 full diapers at the same time. Almost unplayable for me.
This is an extremely cheap game, so I was not really expecting a lot. It surprised me. It's a blend of Super Mario Odyssey movement and Super Mario Galaxy's levels and it feels mostly really good to play. I have a few complaints, like the lack of a decent sfx for jumping, which made the game feel a little lackluster. It's a simple thing but really changes the general feeling of the game. Other than that, the game's first level/tutorial level was not really a good introduction, I don't know... it's just way "cheaper" than the other levels and causes a really bad first impression. Glad I stuck with it tho, because the general gameplay is really fun.
There's no getting around the fact that this is an indie Mario Galaxy "clone." I honestly had several laugh-out-loud moments while discovering for myself how much of a "rip off" it was, and in so many ways. BUT, I could tell that it was done out of love rather than malice. As a fellow hyper-fan of Mario Galaxy, I can't help but respect it. The visuals are nice albeit amateur feeling, though the weakest element are without a doubt the giant monolithic cubes with obvious tiling textures that make up each level. This is a case where Mario Galaxy could've certainly been studied more to see how the platforms can be contextualized for each level. Even just some fog, color/alpha blending and stacked textures at different scales could've been a cheap fix under a tight modeling budget. While the game may be a tad rough around the edges design-wise (I don't recall any actual bugs), it was still an endearing experience. I'd recommend it if you're another hyper-fan of Mario Galaxy! Hopefully the dev takes what they learned on this to make a more unique game with some things of its own to say... and from the looks of "Crescent Overload" it sure seems like it! <3
I just started this game. I'm about an hour in, but I am absolutely blown away by the content on offer here! This is an absolute steal for the $10 the Developer asks! Especially if you are a huge fan of the Super Mario series, as I happen to be! You can tell that the Developer took heavy inspiration from that series, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing! After all, if it isn't broke then don't fix it! I was looking for a game exactly in line with this for my Steam Deck, and I'm very glad I came across it! I love how the control scheme is just as fluid as in Super Mario Odyssey while also taking inspiration from the Galaxy series as well! 10/10 as far as I'm concerned! Can't wait to keep playing until 100% completion! This is one Developer you'll want to keep an eye out for! They're very talented and their end product, from what I can see here, is very well polished and they accomplished what they set out to do! I can't believe I didn't buy this and play it sooner...
The game is OK, not great. Worth playing if you enjoy variety, like the cute aesthetics, and don't mind a general feeling of bugginess. Recommended on a quantity-over-quality basis. You select a biome from the hub world and pick one of the 4 or so fairly easy linear levels with a bunch of different gimmicks. Some levels end in a boss fight. There is a hidden "star card" in each level to collect (36 total). Those unlock 4 frustratingly difficult challenge levels. You also collect thousands of coins to buy outfits with. You have a double jump, an air dash, and a dash cancel, so effectively you have a quadruple jump. This gives you a lot of control, but platforms are often far apart so you need them. There are also Celeste-like advanced movement options. You have a magic wand attack that is used for combat but also for activating launch pads, power crystals, grapple points, etc. There are a few frustrating design choices: you can't double jump out of a wall jump, but you can out of launch pads. You bonk if you dash against a wall, even if you're nearly parallel to it. When you get hit or bonk there is an annoying long recovery time. You can't use your magic wand out of a dash, unless you dash recover first. Sometimes you have to swing across a pit but activating the swing point doesn't work because the auto aim isn't lenient enough. It all adds up to a frustrating experience at times. But the main game is pretty easy, so it's tolerable. As for bugs, I've had two softlocks, from a boss bugging out and from getting stuck behind geometry. I had to restart the area. There are also visual bugs, like damage zones disappearing while they were still active, and a certain enemy falsely appearing stunned. I almost got 100% in my 8 hours, but after spending an hour attempting a series of jumps in Challenge Level 3 I gave up.
