♥♥♥♥♥ ultra expensive for little content.
Grindy. Tons of cosmetics. Fun combat. Great game.
Gameplay essentially stopped updating 5 years ago. Was a unique action MMO but the action never truly got new things, now it is just a dress up game.

How do you fumble the bag this hard.
No one wants new genesis man not one single person i honestly have no idea why they continue instead of bringing classic back to the main world.
Game is ok. All the nasty reviews seem to be from lovers of older pso2 base game. Treat the game as a mobile app game you would play on your phone. The grind isnt too bad. Has a ton of events going on. I dont really spend more then like one to two hours a day playing. Game's value is in the social aspect then content. So the player base isnt the best. That is the real problem. Problem all mmo have. Really anything online. if you pick this game up you should understand it isnt a got'cha. You do not need any of the micro buys to enjoy the game. Only to enjoy the social part. Which again more players causing the problem then "Sega". I would only call a game a got'cha if you HAD to buy the stuff to play the game. But you dont. So no, this isnt a got'cha. Base game pso2 is still here. You can play that if you want. It is treated as a dlc add on now. It is really fun to play still. It is dated keep that in mind. All I got to say.
I wanted to like it but NGS really isnt for me. I enjoyed original PSO2 because of the combat depth, with how each weapon felt different and highly customizable, but in NGS everything is so streamlined that no weapon felt unique enough to justify using it over any other. Also blocking the original behind the 150gb base game is just horrendous. Im not sacrificing 200gb for the old one, so im playing neither
i come back years later and legitimately what in the godless ♥♥♥♥ is this now?
sorry but its good actually.
PSO2 NG is a poor sequel which has a lack of content compared to the game that came before and is missing the depth the original PSO2 had. I waited years for PSO2 to come to Europe I had a blast once it arrived then within a year they announce a new game called New Genesis. The hype was real but the game they delivered was so much worse than the previous PSO2. The original PSO2 was an excellent action roleplaying game with fun balanced classes that was actually good to play with friends. It showed that a game that focused on PvE could be great and you didn't need to PvP. One of the best things about PSO2 was that lower level friends could still join you and play together and levelling up was not a grind or dull. Dungeons, questing and events as a group were an interesting challenge and engaging with some diverse boss fights. PSO2 NG threw this good formula away.. New Genesis launched with a lack of content and the game was a grind fest. Sadly a few years later this is still the case. Teaming up with friends to smash through a dungeon was no longer fun. I didn't even hang around long enough to see what the events were like because there just wasn't any. Steam shows 2.7 hours play time but I probably managed between 10 and 15 and gave up. Bring back PSO2 or release PSO2 Classic. This is a not a good action MMO RPG and is a step back for the Phantasy Star universe. Boo Sega... just poor.
