You are a Wizard. Being imprisoned in Penimorta, a maximum security prison, has little appeal. Naturally, you've decided to bust out. The problem is... between every floor of Penimorta is a Corporeal Beast. Can you escape?

the game overall was quite fun. even the snake wasn't horrible. but the final boss, the warden, is an absolute mess. especially that spin attack, there is a minimal amount of time to react, one hit and the slow effect means that you literally cannot recover, and then when it ends the square is entirely dependent on whether you get lucky enough for it to not move straight into you while you're slowed. basically, it feels like you lose as soon as you get hit once, even when you have the health to recover.

Came back to it a couple years later, now that I was better at both EtG and Nuclear Throne. It's alright, I guess, but still kind of sucks. No music, basically no sound effects other than the ones you occasionally hear from enemies dying, and from your own gunshots, so I hope you have your own playlist set. Bosses are bland and predictable, and more of a slog than a test of difficulty, with the only couple difficult ones being Snestle and The Warden. The game's visual clutter and lack of enemy attack distinction leads to you getting hit by accident a lot, and no indication of things like Phase changes until they're underway leaves a lot to be desired. It's fine if you're looking for something to play for a couple hours, I guess, but it's not really anything interesting otherwise.

Great game! Extremely friendly to low-performance computers and it is really simple. The bosses are difficult to defeat, and took me 10 hours to complete it back when I played it on my cheap computer. If this game was paid, I would buy it because it is guaranteed that you have a good experience.

it took me 39 deaths to beat the game... the enemies are pretty annoying since 90% of them can give you frustrating to deal with status effects.
Penimorta is not enjoyable. It could have been implemented better. This game is more of a top-down bullet hell type of game with some humor to it. The pixel graphics looks fine, and I like the music. The level design, enemy ai, projectile debuffs, and some of the bosses aren't that great. It's gets annoying and unfair to some degree. But my main complaint is the object interaction. The only way to interact with objects is by running into them. I really wished it is a button instead.
Honestly? It's a free game, so I can't be too judgemental. I thought the game is a bit challenging, but really doable, but after I finished the run, I saw that the items you get are randomized. I can see why this might be the problem. Personally (spoilers ahead) I've got some offensive good items (max damage increase by 2, min damage increase by 2) and one that probably carried - critical hit trinket is basically a must I think. I don't know about flamethrower - if it gets increase from flat damage increase, it can be decent. Oh, and yes; I also got 2x attack speed trinker I think. So while I had an easy run, it could become a literal hell for others - there are items that are close to useless against bosses. Last boss with its spinning attack is a bit janky - when you get hit with the slow; all you can do is tank projectiles. But again; I had doubled health. Most bosses are fine though and I think this game is a really, REAAALLY decent project, when you start being game developer. SUMMARY: Yeah, I recommend this game, BUT bad item rng can make your run longer. I managed to end the game under 50 minute mark (I have more, because I wanted to test if items are randomized).
I feel this is an okay foundation with a poor execution. Somewhat interesting items, neat enemies, but a lot of it just feels like trial and error, and not in a fun way. You constantly feel extremely underpowered, in many runs I just hit walls where I had to take out enemies from as far away as I possibly could while camping around a wall to not take as much damage. I think the best part is easily the boss fights but the final boss is absurdly difficult to the point of annoyance. There's challenging and then there's difficult. This is just plain difficult. It's easy to understand what to do, it's just slow and obnoxious to actually complete what the game wants you to do.
first boss teleported onto my head causing unavoidable damage. of if this is your definition of "hard" buy a dictionary.
