About
PALMIER ISLAND is a cozy island RPG sim that tricks you into learning French through pure play and no curriculum.
Plot: The economy is in shambles, and you're fresh outta college with no job and no prospects, so you fly to your millionaire uncle's island to catsit for the summer. However, when you arrive, you find out that all the islanders only speak French and you have to pay off your missing uncle's debt! Start a cafe, run a farm, fight demons in a school basement, go to court, and more as you discover each islander's lore and leave the island semi-fluent!
Core Gameplay Mechanic: Learn French through our core gameplay mechanic, Chattle, which is like a Pokemon battle where your words are Pokemon. You capture words from the Chattle into your vocabulary to navigate each conversational puzzle.
Minigames: Test your guessing skills through multiple minigames, such as shopping with only French labels, baking treats by recognizing vocabulary, and exploring alternative Chattle routes.

Very good! I think it'd be cool if you added a feature to make people (and Chattie) repeat their dialogue so I could hear it again, I wanna work on pronunciation as well :)
Only a demo, but it seems like a fun alternative to learn a language, would love to be able to have the lines repeated
I absolutely LOVE when people create educational experiences for free, especially for learning new skills or languages. Though it is a demo, i hope the final product will be affordable for everyone (I suggest free with payable DLC with different difficulties or levels of French though that may be challenging for you, the dev). This has potential to be really great. I have some small gripes, such as sometimes clicking speeds up the text and sometimes it just skips it. The inconsistency removes me from the exposition. The paths are not clear with lots of invisible walls. The minimap disappears on its own. But way more on the positives: There's voice acting! What a surprise! (Would love to be able to replay lines to hear or catch what I missed for pronunciation purposes) Cute story! Mechanics are great! I can't wait to see where this goes. Merci beaucoup!

Pretty cute little demo! I might have a little too much French for the target audience -- it helps you to figure out and learn new words via context clues, then you use the words you've learnt (and only those words) to talk to the NPCs. I look forward to seeing more!
cute game, seems like a cool alternative to learning french! it's got some enjoyable humour and voice acting as well, which was unexpected!
ABSOLUTELY loved the demo. Was sad when it was over. It was definitely a fun way to relearn what I know and teach me basics of stuff that would be good to know. My grandmother was french and loved having knowledge of her language right at my finger tips and having fun game time at the same time. Look forward to more from it. WHAT A TWIST too....
Nice story, concept, mechanics and funny. Voice actors and art is also good. Would definitely be a fun way to learn French. The area is somewhat hard to navigate, especially with invisible barriers and the aura and patience points suddenly dropping when the dialogue ended gave lovely heart attacks.
Cute demo, can't wait for the full version, Since I speak pt-br, it was easier than i thought, but the premise is really nice
it sounds like a fun game, i can't get past alphie however, idk what i need to do i answered each of his questions but i can't get past his intro
