"Over the Net" is not only the worst volleyball game ever made, in fact, not only the worst sports game ever made, but it's a solid contender for one of the worst games ever made. This basic tech demo is the result of someone tooling around with Unity for an hour or so (if it took longer, wow), getting the project to build then rushing it immediately onto Steam Direct. This volleyball game is so bad the developer didn't even bother with player characters, you just get the basic placeholder capsules. Was this put onto Steam sincerely? Or as a joke? Or was it malice? This comes across as something unambitious and "simple" in terms of implementation and technical quality and depth, more like a game dev tutorial or an experiment. It’s a classic case of a developer prioritizing the low effort needed to get a game listed on Steam over the actual delivery of a technically sound or compelling product. Whatever is needed to hammer out something "good" enough for Steam Direct self-publishing. The graphics here are particularly awful, placeholders and incredibly low quality garbage backdrops, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Nope. There's no up front cost here, but I still feel like I got ripped off, and I didn't even spend any money. That's how bad this is. Note: Joke reviews As usual, with some of the worst games on Steam, all the comedians come out of the woodwork. The vast majority of the reviews for this game are joke reviews, mocking the game for just how bad it is. The comedians give us the usual "this game cured my cancer, saved my marriage, changed my life" story... sarcastic, but not useful if you want to know if the game is worth it. Because most of the reviews are humorous but also insincere and not reflective of the actual quality of the product, the positive review score for this game should be taken with a grain of salt.

zeer goed spel, interessant plot, absoluut positieve graphics, geluidseffecten. een zeer goed gepolijst spel, verslavend voor vele uren. het enige nadeel is dat je kunt verliezen van de roodharige.
