Art style and music make for a very beautiful alien world. An hour of play, very impressed. Harvest some essentials build a scanner. Start to make sense of this strange world. Missions guide you, giving purpose to your exploration. I like the relaxed feel of the game. Not sure how many hours of play, I hope many. Did see there are caves to explore. Save those for another day. Loving what I see so far.
The musical theme of the quests is novel and enjoyable. The material-gathering aspect of the quests is very tedious for the following reasons: 1. No in-game or wiki database available for which plants give which components. 2. Graphics display is full-screen and cannot be change to windowed, making simultaneous use of a spreadsheet impossible. If you don't have two graphics cards and two monitors, copying the plant names, locations, and products is very tedious. 3. The fabrications for the quests require multiple components, some of which are fabricated from gather components. The recipes are also not in a database. It is a shame because I wanted to see where the storyline was going, but tabulating dozen of plants and complex recipes one ALT-TAB per text line is not my idea of fun. By the way, this 1.0 release is identical to the EA release a year ago, and the developer makes no promises to develop the game further. If you choose to buy this game, this may be all you are getting.
Outpost on Syrinx is a very unique survival game. Everything about the environment- the look and sounds are very different. The art style reminds me of Planescape a bit, with a touch of the original Star Trek. I feel like I need some red-shirts with me! Very nice and very alien feel to the planet. The big feature with this game will be the musical interaction with the environment. Sounds and music are an important form of communication on Syrinx. Most of the plants have a visual and musical signature. There is a mission that is almost a mini-game where you collect notes. Lots of cool things could be done with this musical concept. Interactions with the pitch, timing, and beat of the music could cause different results. There is a large area to explore, with at least two teleporters that I have found leading to other areas. You scan and analyze the different species of plants as part of the game's missions. It's a small team, you may not see all the bells and whistles. But you will see a dedicated developer who responds quickly here on the Steam forums. Not sending you to some other website which is just social media. Your ideas and suggestions are examined and discussed. There are no threats or weapons yet, so it's all about the crafting, exploration and interaction with the environment. Jump on board and support this developer. Tons of potential in this one! Recommended!
gorgeous world, from the colors to the small details that are throughout the areas you explore. a very relaxed, laid back, appreciate the moment type of game. active developer with a very creative vision. the sound interactions you make with items and creatures are just as unique as your surroundings. time, love, and care went into making this game and it really shows. a joyful experience this far and i very much look forward to where it takes me next.
I've had a Steam account for many years now and I have lots of games, but this is the first review, I think, I've written for any of them. I love this game and I really hope you keep updating it! I saw Grillmastah's video back in March and added it to my wish-list, and finally purchased it today. I love the interactive mini-game with the aliens because I love the techno music! The scenery is spectacular! When I first saw the Blue Hills (I think that's the name of the area) I was blown away. The imagination and creativity that has gone into this game is awesome. I really like the non-melee game-play. When I get a new game, if there's a way to turn that off, I do that right at the start. Not every game needs to have "things" trying to rip your face off All the time. Thank you for making it! Please keep up the great work!
Very fun musical theme to this survival sim. Beautiful art-style, awesome soundtrack. Early access. A few basic enemies and simple combat were recently added. No physical needs like hunger or thirst yet. The focus right now is on the musical mini-games, technology, and character development. At this stage, it is quite fun also as an object finder and item collector. Chill and relaxing!
A far out, inspired, psychedelic game! Utterly unique, with immersive, toe-tapping groovy music and sound effects, and way out visuals. Harvesting, crafting, and interesting musical gameplay on an alien world. Unlike any other game you'll play. One of a kind game made by an extremely creative person!
I bought this game knowing it was still early access and has been for awhile. I like what I see so far, a good majority of the core game-play is fleshed out and the dev (amazingly, just one guy) is very responsive to suggestions, feedback and updating/patching things as issues arise. Bugs that get reported seem to be taken seriously and the dev attempts to deal with them in a timely manner. The music aspect of this game is quite an interesting mechanic and adds something that other survival, crafting, life sim type games generally lack. The graphics are quite good and the different areas have enough variation that it makes them interesting and worth looking at. Even though the dev is planning to greatly expand certain areas and aspects of the game, there is still plenty to do and see already for a casual game still in its infancy. I suspect this game will only continue to get better as time goes on and I look forward to seeing it progress.
I really enjoy this game. The graphics are beautiful, and I like the eerie music and scenery that remind me a little of the original Star Trek series I used to watch as a kid. It's been a fun way to relax in the evenings after work. After 21 hours of play, though, it seems like I've done most everything there is to do, so I just hope that it continues to develop and that more content is added. Six months later ---Just checked out this game again and was so glad to see the cave expansion and new missions! Seems like some new music has been added too. I love it! Keep up the great work! :)
