Outlaws of the Old West is an ambitious multiplayer survival sandbox developed by Virtual Basement LLC and published by Wandering Wizard, set against the backdrop of a vast and untamed frontier. Built around large shared servers and persistent worlds, the game aims to merge traditional survival mechanics with MMO-style social systems, all wrapped in a Wild West theme. From the outset, it promises players the freedom to explore, build, fight, trade, and carve out their own identity in a sprawling open environment inspired by the American frontier. The world itself is one of the game’s most striking features. Stretching across multiple biomes that range from arid deserts to swamps and colder northern regions, the map is expansive and varied. Environmental systems such as temperature shifts, weather changes, and day–night cycles directly impact survival. Players must manage hunger, thirst, and exposure while navigating terrain that can quickly turn hostile. The sense of scale reinforces the survival atmosphere, especially during early gameplay when resources are limited and shelter is fragile. Crafting and base building form the core of progression. Starting with primitive tools, players gather wood, stone, and other materials to construct weapons, clothing, and structures. The building system allows for modular construction, enabling players to create everything from simple cabins to elaborate settlements. There is a tangible satisfaction in transforming an empty patch of wilderness into a fortified homestead. The crafting system extends beyond basic survival, incorporating firearms, explosives, and advanced materials that gradually expand player capabilities. Combat plays a significant role, especially on PvP-enabled servers. Players can engage in gunfights, raids, and territorial disputes, bringing tension to the otherwise quiet frontier. Firearms feel central to the Old West identity, and while combat mechanics are serviceable, they can sometimes feel rough around the edges. In PvE servers, combat focuses more on wildlife and bandit encounters, though the absence of deeply developed NPC systems leaves much of the experience dependent on player-driven interaction. One of the defining elements of Outlaws of the Old West is its social structure. Designed as a multiplayer sandbox, it encourages cooperative play, trading, and community formation. Some servers develop strong roleplay communities where players adopt frontier personas, creating emergent narratives and player-driven economies. In these scenarios, the game’s open-ended systems shine brightest, as the lack of scripted objectives allows creativity and social dynamics to flourish. However, the game’s prolonged Early Access period has been a significant point of concern. While its foundation offers promise, development progress has slowed considerably over time. Promised features such as expanded PvE content, improved AI systems, and additional quest-driven elements have not been fully realized. Technical issues, including bugs, performance inconsistencies, and server instability, persist and occasionally disrupt immersion. The lack of regular updates has led to a shrinking player base, which in turn affects the vitality of multiplayer servers. Despite these challenges, the game still delivers moments of genuine frontier survival immersion. Exploring the wilderness at dusk, defending a handcrafted base from attackers, or coordinating with friends to establish a small settlement can be deeply engaging. The sandbox nature allows players to define their own goals, whether that involves becoming a trader, a gunslinger, or a builder. Ultimately, Outlaws of the Old West stands as a survival MMO with substantial ambition but uneven execution. Its expansive map, modular building system, and multiplayer framework provide a strong conceptual foundation. However, technical roughness and stalled development have limited its long-term potential. For players who enjoy open-ended survival experiences and are willing to accept imperfections, it offers a distinctive Wild West sandbox. For those seeking polished progression systems or consistent updates, its unfinished state may feel disappointing. Rating: 6/10
I don't recommend this game. The developer abandon the game.
Интересная игра но из за ошибки загрузки BattlEye на Виндовс 11 нет возможности играть по сети и судя по тому что на серверах нет ни кого это не единичный случай. Помогите решить данную проблему или решите её сами пожалуйста!?
It's like Rust, but significantly worse and optimized worse than most games I've played. Also, why the hell is every hair color gray?
The game was abandoned in 2020. Don't waste your money!
