This game brings me back. It really is a spiritual successor to the beloved "Point Blank" shooting game series that were in the arcades and even appeared on some home console and handhelds. I remember playing these back in the 90's with other arcade shooter series like Time Crisis, House of the Dead, VirtuaCop, Lethal Enforcers, etc. Version I am reviewing at this moment in time: v0.1.19 Pros: - For an early access, it seems pretty polished, haven't discovered any major bugs yet - The optimization for older hardware is nice (since it's using Unity), so you can get pretty high and smooth framerates with 4-5 year old gaming systems, and VR headsets. - Art style is colorful, cartoony and whimsical (similar to a Point Blank game if they were to create a new game) - Controls and tracking seem fluid and mostly accurate* - Sound effects fit very well to the game type and style - Music is not bland, adds good energy to the background and action - Has a good variety of puzzle games (patterns, themes, difficulties) - A working leaderboard for top scores is a nice touch for replayability Cons: - Requires a VR headset to play such a cool and fun game. I can see it being played with keyboard/mouse, controller, and even touch screen. The devs have said that they are planning a non-VR version** after this is finalized, which is nice. * the controls can feel inaccurate at a few moments depending on your VR control's tracking. A cursor/crosshair option might be helpful. Or even a laser pointer for those that want to get the hang of the shooting (maybe in a practice/easy mode) - Multiplayer options (competitive or cooperative) would be cool to play directly with people. - Needs more modes/maps/stages (but this is a very early build, so I am expecting there will be more to come) ** As for playing this without a VR headset (as of v0.1.19), it seems that it is coded to run without HMD (head mounted display). After a few minutes, I realized that you can add the "-novr" parameter to the game's properties and the game will load to a window without any VR equipment needed. The head and gun tracking is controlled by the mouse, like any other first-person shooter, but the game is missing a crosshair and a few keybinds to control the menus and such (so I am guessing that the devs can get the non-VR version out pretty soon when they are ready to focus on that). In the meantime, the only real way I was able to fully play with no VR hardware on Keyboard/Mouse (or even Switch Joy-Cons) is to install SteamVR (enable the "null driver") and Driver4VR (configure how your want to control the tracking and controls via mouse/keyboard/controller/etc). And it seems to work fine. Its not optimal since there is not crosshair or cursors, but that's where the devs will come in. Hope this review of the early access build helps. Keep these games and updates coming. This genre is in need to be revived, since they are so fun.

For me, On Point is a homage to the lightgun shooters I grew up loving in the arcade. It's the kind of game I want to share with my family and friends, something I'm comfortable showing to someone who's never played VR. The shooting is tuned, and feels really responsive and accurate. It's easy, while still feeling challenging and fair. It's the kind of simple experience that will never grow old, or get boring. I look forward to returning to this game, and seeing where it's development journey leads out of early access.

If you are into old school arcade shooters then this is a game for you! The low poly art aesthetic is cool & the game is well optimised and runs very smoothly. There are a wide range of levels to play, however the levels are randomly picked (groups of 4 x2) so at this current time you can't pick and choose. The difficulties are nice, I would advise practising before jumping straight into hard mode because it is quite challenging. The only minor thing I can pick on at this stage is the global leader board didn't work for me but i'm confident that will be fixed soon. 10/10 would buy again :)

This game is outrageously fun! I got the opportunity to try the game before it fully releases and made a few videos on it! Definitely check them out to get some insight on the game. It's a really polished up Arcade Shooter made by Actuator Digital. It replaces what quite a few people would like in a "VR" Aim trainer category as we've seen other well known developers try to make one but fail to deliver. This game was exactly what I’ve been looking for. As a kid, I was a huge fan of Point Blank, and I haven’t found a game that captured that same magic—until now. The mini-games are fantastic, visually impressive, and a ton of fun to play. The arcade-style environment really adds to the overall experience, making it feel both nostalgic and fresh. The one thing that would make it even better is the addition of multiplayer. It would be amazing to host rooms where players could compete head-to-head. That’s what made Point Blank so memorable for me—the thrill of racing against someone and pulling the trigger as fast as you could. All in all, this is a great game with a lot of potential. I’m excited to see where it goes in the future because it's already off to an excellent start. Keep up the fantastic work!

Good old fashioned arcade shooter fun. Definitely worth picking up for VR newcomers and veterans alike, especially thanks to the stationary gameplay. Almost no risk of motion sickness.
