Odyssey to the Perfect Mediocre
This game is a perfect mediocre in almost every thing. Different parts of the game range from "decent" to "good", but there are nothing really awesome or innovative. Let's start with the visuals: Odyssey to the Frozen Legion uses the familiar PS1 retro style. Some locations, like village are genuinely beautiful, but monotonous caves and mazes... I understand that it's intended choice for such places, but I feel like they lack of small details all around. For example, the caves could have featured more mining equipment left behind by workers and the maze could have had bones, shards, blood on the walls or something familiar. On the other hand, the forest in this game is amazingly creepy. Speaking of creepiness, let's talk about the horror elements. The game is scary for the first few levels, but then you get used to the enemies and the darkness, and the fact that ammo is fairly plentiful (though I stubbornly beat almost everybody with a shovel – I'm too greedy). However, the game QUICKLY ramps up when you reach one specific cave section. Yes, that part took me a long time and I even dropped it for a few hours. About the enemies: there are damn little of them. Two types of "entities" aka faceless zombies, big fingerworm and giant cockroaches. Sadly, that's not enough, because even for a short game, more variety are welcome. Oh, and I almost forgot about small tentacles. And... that cave guy... He's terrifying. About the weapons: they work cool, but look bruh, models could be better. Anyway, they are perfectly balanced with enemies HP and ammo quantity around, also you can buy them, but if you use shovel like me, you end the game with 100 shells and 100+ pistol rounds, but the rifle ammo remains scarce. Overall thoughts: The mood of this game strongly reminds me of Silent Hill 1, same weird monsters that don't really fit the narrative (except for zombies), strange locations with merged reality and other dimension, ancient god. So, no deep psychology, but plenty of cult vibes. Something resembles Resident Evil or DMC with colourful healing orbs. Interesting notes, good maps, mostly easy puzzles except for the knights and harp, that thing is a nightmare. Please, no more music puzzles for those of us without a musical ear of relevant education! I found 3 minor bugs during walkthrough, but they are not frustrating or game-breaking. But my disappointment was immeasurable because of the final boss. Was that a joke? The entire game's tone was perfectly maintained, there was no need for such decision. All in all, it's a solid 7/10. Looking forward to the developer's next game :3
Love the game, really entertaining. Keeps you on your toes with the slight horror side of it. Would love to see achievements added!
Odyssey to the Frozen Legion nie wywraca gatunku do góry nogami. To solidna porcja standardowej produkcji w gatunku. Niezbyt immersyjne – można by to zastąpić jakąś istotą/duszkiem, z którą można pohandlować – sądzę, że wtedy by to lepiej wyglądało i spajało się w całość. Graficznie to retro pikseloza, budująca klimat i tego typu zabiegi mi nigdy nie przeszkadzały, bo przeważnie bardziej działają na wyobraźnię niż gry ze standardową grafiką. Audio – podstawowe. Warto.
Okay…
So at one point I was ready to leave a negative review because of the abysmal Mines level with the “weeping angel”-style monster. That section was incredibly tedious, and the final straw was when the monster killed me during a door transition... Honestly, that kind of design feels disrespectful to the player. That said, I pushed through that part and managed to finish the game. Thankfully, the rest of it didn’t repeat that kind of tedious design.
The final boss fight was a bit odd, but overall it was fine.

Don’t expect anything groundbreaking here, but if you’re in the mood for a medium-length survival horror (about 4–5 hours), it’s a good experience that can entertain you for a couple of evenings -- aside from that Mines level part. ;)
I enjoyed the psx style graphics. Very nice Indie game! Well Done
Loving the game so far , the atmosphere keeps you on your toes and you can see the work put into it from the very start . Can't wait to see what it has in store .
odyssey to my frozen nuts
From the opening moments, this indie horror game delivers an experience that’s truly unforgettable. What sets it apart is the sheer strength of its atmosphere and storytelling. It doesn't rely on overused jump scares—instead, it slowly builds an intense, creeping tension that keeps you locked in from start to finish. The narrative is surprisingly rich, drawing you into a dark and twisted world full of secrets just waiting to be uncovered. Each discovery feels meaningful, and the pacing is just right, encouraging exploration while constantly keeping you on edge. The story unfolds in ways that are both unpredictable and emotionally engaging, making it more than just a horror game—it's a journey. Gameplay-wise, it strikes a near-perfect balance. Exploration, puzzle-solving, and survival mechanics are all executed with precision. The feeling of vulnerability is ever-present, creating a constant undercurrent of dread that enhances every decision you make. You’re never sure what’s waiting around the next corner, and that uncertainty is exactly what makes it so effective. This game proves that you don’t need a huge studio or a massive budget to create something truly terrifying and unforgettable. It's inventive, bold, and driven by a clear vision that sticks with you long after it’s over. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 – This is the kind of horror game that reminds you why the genre can be so powerful. It doesn’t just try to scare you—it pulls you into a story that stays with you, long after you’ve stepped away. Thoughtful, tense, and beautifully executed in its design, it’s a standout example of how indie developers are pushing horror in bold new directions.
A solid game that does everything it needs to be an enjoyable ride. It's very survival light, as for most of the game you'll be over stocked on every resource the game has to offer. There are some puzzles to solve. Only one had me stuck for a moment, but that's mostly cause of how easy it is to over look the numbers on the floor. There isn't much in terms of story, everything interesting that happens, happens off screen before you arrive. The notes detailing this story are well written, and the pacing at which things are revealed to you is well done, but I like things to happen to the character I'm playing and wish there had been more Frogman interactions. The game has about 5 major areas to explore. The coast, the mines, the village, the flesh, and the swamp. There are 2 boss fights, first is fine but the final boss is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you want wanna kill an afternoon with a short 3 hour Resident Evil 4 style adventure, this ain't a bad way to get that. Everything after this will just be me belly aching. Something that almost made me quit the game was the game making me climb a tower, at the top of the tower it tells you you're about to pass a Point Of No Return, and you should spend all your money, however, the money spend machine is all the way at the bottom of the tower on the other side of the swamp. And worse yet, there is no save point at the top of the tower, so when the boss kills you, you're sent back to your last save, and you have to flip a switch to be allowed up the tower every time you reload, even if you save with it flipped cause I'm guessing the game doesn't save that object's state. It's wild they didn't just add a Soul machine and save point next to the PONR. What's worse, is that after playing half the final area again and suffering the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ final boss who spawns in enemies to swarm you, and coupled with his own attacks, drains your health in seconds making me feel like I spent more time in my menu healing that shooting. After beating the boss you're given a simple text box as a finale,
you're told your Brother you've been seeking is the Frogman you keep bumping into, and that Frogman is the Father referred to in the notes who basically sent everyone to hell to become a Frog God?
It's a fine story beat, but it doesn't feel like a great reward for the effort. Speaking of less than pleasant sections, the mine cart section overstayed its welcome.
Very nice game! I will do a Full Playthrough on my channel soon enough and also maybe an overview. What I dislike about this game: - enemy variation is very limited, - breaking animation for boxes, planks, artifacts is rendered in 10 FPS and looks very bad, - the game suffer from stutter every now and then, - would be nice to have more graphics settings or a VHS effect, - the sound design is lacking for some actions, What I like about this game: - the graphics style is pleasant to the eyes, - enemies have good ragdoll physics, - I love that every surface has its own particles splash when I smash my shovel hitting random objects, - the gore is satisfying, - the combat is satisfying, that shotgun makes the enemies fly, piece of art... maybe is more action focused... idk, - the game has a very good atmosphere, very creepy, nostalgic, I'm fully immersed in this world, - I like that the blood keeps staying on the ground, also the enemies, - the story is fun and interesting enough, I like the frog. 9/10 from a Survival Horror lover (not old school) new gen one
