At the moment, I don't recommend the game. Here is my experience with it after playing it for almost 7 hours. Mining, mining, mining, mining, mining, mining, mining, mining, Not enough resources to craft stations to make food to save my space man, they die, new character, repeat. It's really grindy going from planet to planet to find resources to get enough to build the stations to craft items to survive. I took too long to find enough resources to keep my characters well fed, so they starve and die. I still don't have enough resource to make replacement tools so I'm stuck with a broken tool. The places you visit in space are the exact/similar locations where you're in an asteroid field going out to collect resources, complete the objective before you leave. The experience gets rather repetitive. Sometimes you'll find drones that try to steal your resources, aliens living on rocks, and story events. The game makes doing things such as putting items into machines a chore to do. instead of selecting how much stuff I want to put in in a simple manner, I have to sit there with my collect gun to slowly put or take supplies. My question is why does it have to be so extra in the process? Building rooms is an extreme chore. as you have to build EVERY SINGLE TILE in the room and it drags the process. The UI while not terrible is not very friendly, having to equip and unequip your tools so you can access machines. Not being able to see your stats on screen is annoying so you can plan out your course of action. you have to wait till you start running out of oxygen to go get more oxygen, wait til it gets cold to start returning to the ship to get warm. Tutorial is bugged on pluto and I can't leave except by exiting the tutorial. The game kind of plays like Raft in space, but not as engaging. Positives are, traveling to planets on the ship map is decent...The game looks decent...This game is difficult to recommend in its current state because I find the gameplay dull and repetitive. I hope the game gets better, I can see the potential it has if the gameplay was refined and the game isn't so brutal on the survival part.

I want to like this game but so far I haven't really been able to play it at all. I can't get though the tutorial because it seems that It gets hung up on various tasks that it asks you to do. And since the controls are locked and the other menus are locked I am stuck not being able to play the game at all. Developer, if you can't get though the tutorial then the game is unplayable.
Neresinden tutsan elinde kalıyor Bundan iki yıl önce Oddyssey’in duyuru haberini – eskiden yazdığım sitede – yapmıştım. İşte, Oddyssey’in hikayesi bundan ibaret. Şu an tavsiye edilebilecek hiçbir tarafı yok. Küratör Sayfamız: Mundus Novus 31/05/23 12:13
Right now, I would say add it to your wishlist and wait for it to get better. I got stuck on the tutorial mission where you put on your space suit. Up until that point, I was sort of having a good time. Collecting resources isn't amazingly entertaining and the snarky tone gets old pretty quickly. It's still in early access so I am hoping it can get better with time. The cartoon aesthetic totally works and the tone is light and fun, even if it does get annoying during the tutorial mission. https://youtu.be/7PoJr2XMQC4
i couldn't make it through the tutorial. it doesn't clarify a lot of things it wants you to do and you're just looking at these vague prompts like "use right stick to expand your view" while you twist the right stick around and the view shifts but you didn't PRESS right stick like it wanted.....you have to deposit this ore in a tank and pull a switch. you get prompted to "press a to pull the lever" and it took me a several minutes to figure out i had to put up the device i used to collect/deposit to use the lever. the next line of the tutorial is "i'm glad you can follow simple directions!" and at that point i uninstalled the game and came to leave this review. it's not even that the tutorial was bad, but to insult the player when you can't even communicate the proper steps to accomplish what you want me to do? nah. oh yeah, the horrible computer "voice" that's just a buzzy noise seriously grates on my ears and was bad enough on it's own with it's unskippable dialogue that it's noteworthy as a separate and independent reason why i couldn't put much time into this game.
Very nicely made game, great music and relaxing gameplay. Recommendable to anyone who likes the retro atmosphere, space, survivals and pleasant evenings ;)
EDITED TO NOT RECOMMEND (while this resets the upvotes this review had, I feel the need to update due to recent events.) Despite a decent baseline of a game that could have been fixed and expanded on, the developers have abandoned it in an unfinished state and will not be updating it further. I had this marked positive while development was ongoing as it seemed promising; but once again an Early Access title has failed to deliver and shut down before being completed. This is now an unfinished game with no further planned updates. Original review below: --- EARLY ACCESS ~ Stay away unless you are willing to play test, deal with glitches and give feedback. What if FTL was built for casual instead of hardcore, focused more on gathering resources and survival mechanics than combat and dressed up like a children's game with cutesy puffy people all being bossed around by a computer named M.O.M. There you go, possibly the worst way to describe Oddyssey that I can think of. --- Why am I reviewing this game? Why am I still recommending it? Why didn't I refund it? Does it even work? I go back and forth over the years whether I'm in the mood to deal with Early Access, and I knew that's what I was buying here, so I'm not holding that against it. I wasn't even 30 minutes into it when the tutorial was broken and couldn't be finished. Skipping that and starting a new game and the intro movie isn't even the right size, with dialogue boxes partially off screen and unreadable. I knew right away that if I wasn't willing to put up with a game still in development now was the time to refund, but pushing through that I was still kind of enjoying myself. There's not a lot here, but it's a clever, very-casual relaxing exploration game. The graphics have a niche-cartoon appeal, but anyone turned off by that isn't likely reading reviews anyway, they already glossed over this and ignored it. Also don't let the images fool you, this isn't a fully 3D universe, everything is a flat world, even in space, but that doesn't really get in the way; it just keeps with the casual aesthetic so you don't get lost. The positives? The story is quirky-funny (maybe I'm easily amused), the resource gathering is simple and intuitive, the exploration and building are a pretty gentle learning curve. If you need a break from frustration simulators and frantic paced action games, this has a certain potential charm. Just be aware that for now, a lot of that potential is locked behind an unfinished game. Feel free to wait for Early Access to complete and the game to actually release if you're not prepared to participate in what's effectively an Alpha Stage (which comes even before Beta Testing) as there's still a lot of content (more galaxies, more features, etc.) that are being added (or at least have been announced, we'll see if they ever get added) And that's where I'm at, cautiously optimistic that the game might eventually be a casual resource gathering and exploration sim, but currently reporting a new bug or glitch about every 30 minutes while playing. I've written three bug reports just while starting up the game for this review. --- Bottom line: [strike]I'm tempted to not recommend this, but instead I'll opt for recommended with strong warnings. At least for now, I can always thumb it down some day if it sits in early access for another decade without progress. [/strike] ~ And my warnings were unfortunately true, development abandoned, no longer recommended.
Can't recommend - the constant MOM computer voice in the on a short loop is soo annoying. The angle of the cam when you are out in space makes it feel so awkward. I like some of the silly design, but the inside of the ship was like a doll house and a spaceship had a baby. And give the choice of my own name thanks
Currently cannot recommend. Played with friends for a few hours and received multiple fatal crashes that lost game progress. It's in early access so I expect some bugs like this to be ironed out but the UI is pretty clunky. Being unable to select what resources you want moved where in precise quantities is painful, you just hold the button and the rate accelerates in how fast you pull or insert resources, this results in pulling or pushing more than expected and auto switches to the next in your inventory resulting in a lot of unintentional waste. There's hunger but no hunger bar to speak of, just eat an arbitrary amount of food when hungry. I still do not know if eating when it says I'm not hungry staves off hunger longer or just wastes the food. Went through an entire galaxy trying to figure out a way to make a toilet until the game crashed again and we all gave up. The game could be very fun due to the number of building options but with everything having durability, hunger, oxygen, and fuel needs, you're in a constant race to get more resources with little time to build and progress. I may try a solo run and treat it more like a rogue-like rather than a sandbox and see what I think of it then but the fatal error crashes are too common at the moment to bother.
Really, really great game. I love the 80s feel. Very entertaining and colorful. The animations are very smooth. I recommend this game to everybody who loves the 80s and likes radiant and eye-catching colors.
