One of the best RPGs ever made
gud
This game is excellent. Gameplay wise, it works like a typical JRPG where you have turn-based battles with up to four party members, each with a different fixed main class. You also unlock the ability to have your characters pick up a subclass to allow for more variety. Even though all characters eventually have access to all classes, they have their own passives which allows them to be unique. I think this game really shines from a story perspective. You have eight distinct plotlines all running in parallel so you can pick and choose which ones you want to focus on. From what I have heard, the plotlines don't intersect which is unfortunate because I think it would have been great if there was more interaction between the different characters outside of the small dialogue conversations that you periodically unlock. Some plots are more engaging than others, but I think that's just a result of making sure that each character's storyline is unique. I definitely resonated more with some compared to others, but I don't think the less-impactful storylines hurt the game. The music is really good and each region has its own theme of music that fits perfectly with the setting. All in all, I definitely recommend this game. If you also like this game, I highly recommend Octopath Traveler 2. It's just like this, but with more character interactions, and a day/night aspect which allows for even more interactions with the world. I tried to keep my review free of Octopath Traveler II comparisons since not everyone has played that game, but if you really like OPT2, you'll probably like this as well. It isn't quite as polished as OPT2, and there are some game mechanics that are in that game that aren't here, but I still think it's really good.
fire
a classic, the ost is just music to my ears characters are peak story is... meh final boss is def a challange overall it's a very fun and "enjoyable" JRPG to play
Gioco longevo.
Although this is an unpopular opinion, I genuinely think this is better than Octopath 2. Simply in terms of game design Octopath 1 is structured a lot better than the second game, from the way the first chapters are introduced for each character, the limit to 1 npc interaction ability per character, more streamlined character abilities, towns are smaller, side quests are better and everything is more manageable overall that it makes for a far more enjoyable experience. Even though some of the stories in the second game are arguably better and have more depth, I personally prefer the character design in the first game overall. They added more content and complexity to the second game sure but I think less is more, Octopath 1 is the better game.
FF if they locked in
