good
I am very early into the game, still in the chapter 1s, but it's fun. I enjoy the straightforward storytelling, and I enjoy the travelling choose your own adventure aspect.
good game
Nostalgia JRPG
tis fun and enjoyable.
This is the 00's JRPG throwback that I've been craving. I like the format of an ensemble of eight characters, no clear main character
Really love this game. Phenomenal graphics, art, and music. The characters, their personalities, and stories are all great. The only thing I would say is I wish the character stories collided instead of just the "banter".
Truly a refreshing experience, and a solid entry as a traditional JRPG. Many have forgotten what that genre even stands for anymore. Party mechanics, customization, and in 95% of cases, turn-based. Combat is deceptively simple, but you choices in sub-classes and equipment do make a world of difference in what you can pull off. Each character also has their own strengths and weaknesses, for better or worse. For example, I found H'aanit's unique abilities to be tedious more than anything. Having to hunt for random encounters and whittle an enemy down to capture them for use in a later battle, only for those uses to be limited and not scale with H'aanit's own stats made her a permanent benchwarmer, since I could make any of the other seven a sub-class Hunter. And, while this is a review for Octopath Traveler, I do want to mention that many of my complaints about H'aanit, as well as other unique abilities, are addressed and improved in the sequel. So, look forward to that!
