I've played just less than an hour, and I'm already enjoying the game! Fun story, fun play style, fun music. I appreciate the work done here even more, having dabbled in RPG maker myself. Nice Job Hermit!

An amazing and one of a kind JRPG styled, turn-based combat game that has an original and creative story, interesting characters, and a brilliant soundtrack. Hours of fun for all ages.
Honestly when i downloaded the game I didn't expect it to be much, I just wanted a rpg leveling up turn based. But it's a lot more than I expected, sure its not perfect but it's still a good game. It's a very hard and strategic, I had to think out side of the box and find ways of killing the bosses. It can be frustrating and you do have to go through a lot of trail and error, but for someone who tends to fight bosses through pure power I really had to think about how to beat bosses which was refreshing a bit since it was different. And I am a sucker for story rich games, you get to know your team better and learn more about them and their back stories. You learn their insecurities and see their flaws and how they try to work them out with them teams as sometimes their flaws tend to clash with the team. They have bad traits but that makes them human, they get upset or jealous which makes it more enjoyable. I don't like how hard the bosses can be I'll admit, sometimes they feel impossible, it's luck based sometimes in fights. But all together it's really good and at least worth a shot, but I would tone down the difficulty to make it easier as boss fights do tend to drag on and sometimes I felt stuck.
Lol this game sucks. Look at my hours. Who wants to do trial and error game-overing all the time trying to figure out how to beat the overly nit-picky
Death boss
? Yea, I game overed 8+ times trying to figure out how to beat him which I never did. So fun (not). The previous bosses are fairly hard, but manageable. For me, only 2 game overs for 1 or 2 bosses, 1 game over for some bosses, and 0 game overs for most of them. I think the first two are easy, but the rest are pretty hard! Then the
Death
boss came in... Wow. Screw that boss. Screw this game. There are better FREE RPG games out there than this. The music sucks too. Your Oath skills sucks too. There are obvious game glitches in this game like bypassing
Philemon
. Do I care if the
Death
boss is beatable? Nope. Don't care anymore. Not even going to look it up on the internet or YouTube. There isn't even an Easy Medium Hard mode either. Just 1 difficulty. If anyone manages to beat
Death
, good for you, but this game still sucks. Screw the rest of the bosses I didn't get to face. Not even worth it. Now the pros: Your English is amazing I'll give you that. Teenagers or kids may not understand your choice or words like "e.g.". Your story is... ok. And... well no point in reviewing more. I'm out. This game sucks. NOT RECOMMENDED. Play better FREE superior turn-based RPG games (on Android) like Mr. Triangle's Adventure (paid on Steam), Aidinia, and Epic Warrior: Sword of Light. Small RPG with a big heart. Boss battles only, with story, so no grinding required, just the ability to "solve" each battle. The guide is available in the community page if needed. If you just need a little diversion from mainstream things, and appreciate decent writing, this may be of interest. Battles start off too easy, and then get pretty tough. There are a few bugs, make sure to save before entering new areas so you can load if it bugs out. (Cemetery 2nd visit, only look at the 2nd grave from the left not the others, it will black screen)
RPG Maker strikes again! Oath is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This RPG Maker asset flip is square in the middle of the pack for RPG Maker games. What does that mean? It's a godawful train wreck of a game with flipped RPG Maker stock assets, terrible map and level design, sloppy understanding of basic RPG mechanisms, and the usual cringefest high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing that's so bad it's guaranteed to make you throw up in your mouth a little. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
Before I played Oath, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
The game is decent and unique. I did find a bug though in the Hermit trial where you can quite literally walk through him and skip that combat part of the story. As such....this also skips a level up potential....and may or may not make you underpowered for the rest of the game....as I see some have complained about asking for some bosses to be nerfed. I noticed a additional bug where if you go back to the graveyard after the death trial and reexamine any of the graves but Chris' (since its connected to a sidequest)....the game tries to reload the cutscene from the trial....only to end up crashing with a blank screen. You can pull up the menu and end game from there to reload....but the only other way out is to close and reopen the game itself. If one accidentally saves on this blank screen without backup saves....they'll likely have to start over. This is to the point I am now...I look forward to continuing....but wanted to report any bugs found in some way and couldn't find any other way of doing so other than through a review. If it gets fixed....I'll edit the review accordingly.
