A quick retro plunge with a paper-cut deep story. Reasonably fluid controls. A small variety of weaponry keeps repetitive combat somewhat freshy. Secrets were not deep dives into amazing lore, and it was kinda fun when the bum swore at me. I didn't disjoy myself and thus I recommend.

Nova Odessa é um prato cheio pra quem cresceu assistindo tv brasileira e jogando action rpgs entre os anos 90 e 2000. Com uma movimentação fluida e um combate rápido o jogo se torna desafiante, principalmente se você estiver enfrentando um boss. No menu/pause é possível mudar os comandos, oque deixou a minha experiencia um pouco mais agradável. A duração do jogo me surpreendeu, depois da historia principal eu passei mais algumas horas procurando pelos itens que faltavam no meu inventario. Mas o grande diferencial do jogo para mim foi a narrativa, a historia é contada de uma forma divertida e deixa algumas brechas para cada jogador preencher mentalmente da maneira que preferir. As referencias espalhadas pelo mapa reforçam essa estética de narrativa cômica, você vai encontrar menções a Hermes e Renato, Bezerra da Silva, Os Trapalhões... Definitivamente Nova Odessa vai ser um jogo que eu vou recomendar para outras pessoas, principalmente as interessadas em indies brasileiros.

According to the description, I missed half of this game. I killed many demons, but I don't think I bought a single thing for my house! I wandered into the stores a few times, and periodically bought a coffee, but the shopkeepers never gave me a prompt to buy anything. Perhaps there was a location in my apartment to do this? Either way, I enjoyed my time with Nova Odessa. I dug the jazzy music loops, although it seemed like they looped a bit TOO fast. I liked the equipment, which offers you new ways to move through spaces in the game. And although I felt like the ammo ran out too quickly, I liked the weapons as well. The enemies that look like rhinos and oozes require a specific strategy, which keeps the player engaged and prevents the combat from getting thoughtless. In addition, the game features some tricky bosses! Raimundo & Lesma, Thor & Belinda, and Mariano all required multiple tries from me to get through. However, there were a few flaws to note. First of all, you spend a LOT of time walking around in this game. Your character has a dash move, but not even this truly mitigates the issue. The game takes place over a series of days, and each day you'll walk to work and each evening you'll return home. Your character lives on the third floor of an apartment complex, and you'll make the walk up and down the stairs more times than I can count. You'll also be making many, many trips to the Demon Hunting Club, your new place of employment. Not only do you have to pop in to get your new tasks, but you'll likely need to stop by the office multiple times each day for refills of health kits and ammo. The only other issue is the game ends on quite a cliffhanger. What is my boss really up to!? [spoiler]Exporting demons to support a cocaine habit!?[/spoiler] I'd certainly pick up a sequel to find out :)

Muito interessante o jogo.

Jogo muito divertido. Pena que é muito curto. Atenção ao criador: O jogo tem um glitch forte que quando você vai entrar na academia de matar demônios, se você falar com o cara das armas antes do seu chefe, o jogo CRASHA. Tive que fechar pelo CRTL+ALT+DEL. De resto, tudo ok. Fica ai uma idéia boa que poderia virar um grande RPG. Recomendo muito.
