This device had a rough launch but it is getting better over time in my opinion🙂👍
I was one of the first backers and first to receive the product on the 1st of January of this year. I love it, and it really does what it advertises. There's a lot of improvements still being made in the software, but things like the red screen issues and sound cut outs have become less frequent since launch. There was much interference to be had when it first launched 10 months ago, but they've since added different wifi channels to choose from within the software to help mitigate that. I should also add that before i was able to set up my play area completely, when i first received my unit it actually worked through my floor from upstairs. Was pretty cool.

The Nofio is bad, especially if you've ever used a Quest 3 with Steam Link. I had a kickstarter unit which was delivered eventually. The 2nd battery never showed up even after repeated attempts to get them to ship it. The software is fine and is pretty painless to use. Unfortunately the Nofio is just a bad product that preforms poorly. There are immediately noticeable compression artifacts that detract from the experience. After using a Quest 3, this is a such a bad experience. On top of the poor quality, it's loud. Like detracts from gameplay loud. The fan does not stop.
It was amazing when it worked. I was one of the luckey ones because I had zero issues when I first got it. Until 6 months ago after a Windows Update, my computer descided to just not recognize the Nofio anymore... I'm hoping that was a Windows issue which has been fixed since then, but I have not had time to try it again since then. I am hoping to be able to try again and update the firmware in the next week or so.

After using this for quite some time I can't recommend this to anyone. My main cables before going wireless kept on giving me pixels, disconnects and other problems internally so tried wireless then came to a conclusion. to many limitations for what it's trying to do. Pros: Wireless so can spin and not worry about stepping or tripping.... thats really it... TLDR on cons: Blackscreen for a moment can get no audio when trips back, headset doing full restarts, overheats quickly, base station glows red for 90% of my game time, not really clear instructions of what should and shouldn't do (should keep base on 24/7 or not?) battery life, some pointless updates, unable to fix a major issue for a year plus which recently got an update to scan why it's happening. can't even lay down in vr for more then 15 mins due to connection screws up and get pixels + laggy audio which eventually looses connection to the station so give up for the day/night. Cons: Red screens are apparently an internal issue that's been going on more then a year and only last couple of months implemented an update to TRACK the cause as to why it's happening. Quality does go down and give some screen door effect and reduce in brightness/clarity. The base station if you don't have it on when you start your pc the whole pc freezes up so unplug hdmi and usb cables from the station wait for it to turn on (if it won't then off and on should go) then turn on the headset which then after waiting 3 mins for it to go blue light to red of an "internal error" duno why that still happens so off and on again waiting another 5 mins... then might get in if the headset doesn't loose it's own connection. Then ingame time... 3 hours roughly with a full battery isn't to bad but with all these issues it just doesn't give me the play time to go through a run or to relax with friends on almost any game, which is bariely enough time for some of my roleplays I do so got a spare battery but you only get the one cable (yeah never bothered getting a 2nd for the seamless switching) so going through the startup which sometimes crashes my game.. Oh last and most annoying thing out of all in my opinion. Randomly flickers like having to do a minor reconnect which then sometimes (quite uncommonly) DOESN'T RESET AUDIO so i can see and talk but can't hear anything at all for no reason as to why it does this flicker then no audio i duno but guess whattt.... restart the whole headset time which can crash the game and make me loose more vr time cause of the battery. Even the recent update was to assist people not needing to unplug the battery from the headset when the headset turns off... I'm sorry but most people play for the full headset time so if people are complaining about just not unplugging and they want to deal with less time eh duno what to think just put it on charge anyway... So if you want to annoy someone that has vr saying it's a good thing, spend 400 or whatever bucks for this and ship to them and let them suffer which they will go back to cable like the rest of us.
I'm sorry guys... I really tried but I'm tired of having to reboot my PC, headset, and antenna and then having to boot them up in order with frequent USB reconnects just to play VR was too much. I've had this for a year now and I've played so little because now it takes me 40-50min to set up as I try and pray to the gods that the base station is identified by the nofio software. I switched cables, removed metal from the room, covered reflective surfaces... This just isn't it. I'm unsure if having 3 HTC body-tracking pucks affected. But even without those on I'd struggle just to get into VR
Kickstarter backer here. While it definitely took some months for the software to be polished, I must say that I'm ultimately happy that I backed the creation of this product! The hardware looks great and works as intended. The software is updated regularly, fixing the various hiccups that this technology has in it's many technical parameters. The support keeps getting better and better. I'm using Nofio and my Valve Index together with a KatWalk C2+ Omnidirectional Treadmill, for which I was also a Kickstarter backer. This gives me unlimited freedom of movement with no wires attached. I play games and explore worlds while burning calories and keeping fit. If you have a Valve Index, the Nofio adapter and VR Treadmill combination is something that I highly recommend in order to increase the life of your Index and enjoy VR immersion like never before! Yes, you could theoretically wait for Valve Deckard to be released, which will most probably be wireless, but we all know it'll cost $1000+. If you already own an Index, it's not worth upgrading just for the wireless factor, since you can get the Nofio adapter for $450 and achieve the same goal for less than half the price. All I need to buy now is a BHaptics Tactsuit Pro and my mancave will be complete...
If your goal is to save money in a ''long term perspective'', that yes I recommend to get the nofio is you already have the valve index. for now you just need to sacrifice a little bit of quality (almost not noticeable). the only really bad thing is that for unknown reasons, the audio sometimes go off and never come back (you need to change to an other frame rate to reset the audio) and some time you get a red screen (you need to reboot the nofio head) I am someone that is moving a lot and I was breaking my cables each 2 or 3 month... so I can say that I saved a lot of money.
Being wireless is heaps better then the cable, I just wish it was more reliable. Overall I enjoy using it
