a very nice story focused game full of really well-realised characters. might seem a bit like a teen movie in game form at first, but is a lot deeper than typical teen fodder. a game about the hollowing out of america, heritable mental illness, cycles of history, the horror of being left behind by the world, entropy but also renewal, and learning to enjoy life and build community with all of this happening. GREGG RULZ!!!

i've monitored this game ever since it came out and it's funny to realise that mae's story was pretty much a prophecy for how my life would later turn but oh well, just made it more relatable. it's become a tradition to revisit night in the woods every autumn or so, it never gets boring and each time feels like coming home. i wanna thank the person who created selmers because she inspired me to write my own silly poetry and it was very fun.
The second time I have fimished this game, and I love it more the second time, the characters are the best, I love all of them, the story is, not unique, but is well done and I enjoyed playing through it, honestly, the funniest part of replaying is seeing how really bad Mixtape is, wehn we have had games that make all it tried and failed to be like this one, the music, the artstyle, the writing is a little corny, but the charm it oozes non-stop keep it lovable and enjoyable all the way. my favourite game 4eva billions must play
i first played this game when i was 14. coming back now, around 6 years later, and playing it again, the story makes much more sense, and the game feels sort of like a big hug, i think, as i've grown up, i've sort of come to understand mae, which is what makes this game feel so much more special to me.
