Newcomer : A Language Learning RPG

-Tagalog- I have learned so much from this game in just a couple of hours. Although it doesn't teach you to properly say it, the text to speech being glitchy and sometimes incorrect, but, It has the right idea, and teaches you several ways to say one thing. You'll go from town to town, learn more words, and "battle" harder monsters. Its great because it feels like if you mess up your translation, you're digitally punished for it (losing hearts or dying). Maybe I'm the one that's wrong, but you definitely notice inconsistencies with some other learning apps. I like Pimsleur for when I'm driving, and when I get home I can play this and have fun with it. 7.4/10

So far I like the game a lot. It's extremely simple and yet still engaging. If you click the words twice it will give you the grammar for the phrase which is extremely helpful. Once you start "traveling" no speaks your native language and you have to feel your way through. Luckily, it is extremely forgiving and there are plenty of ways to heal. The only things that bother me is walking. There are random objects in the path that you can't walk over and it's really hard to tell if you can get to an area or not. Sometimes a rock will block you, sometimes it won't. Other than that, I think this game is a great tool to add to your language learning journey. Edit to reply to developer: I believe it was in the forest before Bluemonte that I was having the pathing issues.

My favorite language immersion game so far! I love the music and graphics. Even bought the DLC and played it twice. Good for complete beginners.

The help text describing the words, is the best I've ever seen, way better than duolingo. It really helps with context!

Siempre he buscado juegos de steam para compartir con mi hija y poder aprender y practicar Ingles juntos. Pero los que he encontrado no han podido engancharla, Este juego me ha parecido el mejor de todos, porque tiene el toque perfecto entre una historia que engancha al mismo tiempo que vas aprendiendo y practicando el nuevo Idioma, tambien se refuerza lo aprendido; A pesar de que tengo un nivel intermedio de Ingles, lo estoy jugando en principiante junto con mi hija de 7 años y a ella le encanto y a mi tambien y hemos aprendido y practicado mucho. y a ambos se nos queda grabado en la mente los dialogos que tuvimos, incluso los replicamos , es lo mas inmersivo y al mismo tiempo entretenido que he visto hasta ahora; Felicito a los creadores y ojala que sigan expandiendo el juego.

Helps retain and review vocabulary. It would be great to see more sentence development and practice options. Also, the reading books you find is very helpful and interactive. The sound of the speaker reading the word during review also helps with correct pronunciation acquisition.

Strongly recommend to buy, it does help you learn a lot
