REALLY POOR GAME - POOR GRAPHICS, TERRIBLE PHYSICS AND IN MY OPINION A WASTE OF HARD EARNED MONEY. SORRY GUYS BUT I WOULD AVOID THIS.
My two cents on New York Bus Sim and New York Taxi Sim both released at the same time, by the same devs. My immediate thought was because of the price. Their intent was to make a couple ♥♥♥♥ simulators and that's exactly what they did. Any publicity, is good publicity right? Not really, but good job. As far as the games go, it's open and shut. They are pure garbage, Controls are terrible, UI was done by a 12-year-old. The city or "New York" is clearly European. Same goes for the cars/assets and the THUMBNAIL doesn't even match you GAME NAME! Don't just take my word for it, give it a watch. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q89nrLT7JBk
It's been some time since I played a hilariously ropey sim game on Steam, but this one is up there with the ropiest. I completed the first three "missions" and if you have the stomach to go further maybe you will find yourself doing something other than accelerating, driving 10 meters and stopping, and opening the door to watch the an army of clones get on and off the bus. Then closing the door again. There is one character model. The citizens of NYC also have ghostly powers and can phase through your bus without incident. However, the fire hydrants are far from ethereal - hit one of these and you are surprisingly treated to water spurting many feet in the air. The attention to detail is staggering. The city has been loving recreated and is instantly recognisable as New York, if New York consisted of three copy pasted buildings, and a few benches, and hundreds of bus stops that are 10 meters apart. And barely any other traffic. That's not to mention that they have cruelly turned NYC into a prison city by erecting huge impassable red walls to stop the ghost clones from getting out and destroying America. To be fair, a bus driving game set in the movie "Escape From New York" is a cracking idea for a video game, if you make this, please paypal me 10% of the profits. To top it off, I believe the music has been taken from a 1980s soft core porno. This is, IMHO, the second best game called New York Bus Simulator on Steam.
You drive literally the easiest bus route ever (an actual straight line) through a city almost completely devoid of life, and even if you somehow manage to make a mess of that (I, for one, drove across 50m of sidewalk) you still get 3 stars. This is truly one of the most positive games I have ever played.
First bit of advice. Check the description closely before making the purchase. I thought I was getting the game "New York Bus Simulator", which is actually a simulation game. Same name but a lot more detailed than this one. A few things I noticed about this game is that it appears to have been rushed to market. There was no time to put in any quality or polish. - No turn signals - "i" to open and close doors. - no fares - routes are limited to a line of stops a few feet from either other - bus sounds like it's from a Model T Ford - no reverse lights or sounds - road direction markers point to the wrong direction, and cars are invited to drive on the wrong side of the road. - can't change camera view. (only 3rd person behind view). - very basic artwork - misuse of the title "simulation" (this is a very basic arcade game) I wanted to give the game the benefit of the doubt, so I played it for a while, but it really did not get any better. The first 30 seconds of play is identical to each mission afterwards, with the addition of a bus stop a few feet away. So I will be uninstalling, since I basically completed the game in 20 minutes...
"New York Bus Simulator" ist kein Simulator, sondern bestenfalls ein Mini-Spiel. Im Kern ist der "New York Bus Simulator" nichts anderes als der "New York Taxt Simulator". Dieselbe Grafik, dieselbe Map, derselbe Verkehr. "Realistisch simulierter Verkehr". Das ist wohl der größte Witz. Was ist das tolle an New York? Das es keine Ampeln gibt natürlich. Keine einzige.
Wertung:
1/10 Atmosphäre -/10 Story 2/10 Grafik 2/10 Sound 2/10 Spielmechanik 1/10 Balancing 1/10 Spielspass
Fazit:
Einmal nach ganz woanders hin, bitte. Being a bus driver certainly is not one of the interesting professions of the world but at least it's 1000 times more entertaining than this game will ever be. I did play New York Taxi simulator (same developer) before so I knew what to expect. Obviously the only thing you do in the game is picking people up at bus stops and dropping them off at another bus stop, this would be OK if you would drive around in a beautiful city and/or environments. New York Bus Simulator doesn't have anything like that but just makes you go drive around straight streets in New York (obviously...) which doesn't even look like New York. Even that could have been solved if the graphics were great but the game looks like it was released in the early 2000's and to my knowledge it's not... There are hardly any cars in the game and only like 10 people walking the streets in daylight New York city... and to top it all off many bus stops are around 10 meters away from each other, so some of your customers desided to use the bus instead of walking 10 meters.... Anyways, there is absolutely nothing good to tell about this game.
I paid nothing for this and I still feel ripped off.
My time on this game describes it all. I finished about 50% of the game already, and I regret it. This game is one of the worst sismulator-.. NO, THE WORST ONE I have yet to play.. There is nothing possitive to say, save yourself the money and your precious time, Do NOT get this.
Drive a few meters, stop, press i, press i, repeat. That's the entire game. It takes place on a handful of identical streets in an empty version of NY with little other traffic. And those few cars cut you off, don't use indication lights and you can't even ram them or anything. Christ. Steam really needs some basic quality control to weed out these lazy, bad asset flips.
