Need for Speed™ Unbound

This is a review from someone who didn't grow up playing NFS, so I won't be comparing it to the other games. Firstly, I like cars. I like this game (so far). You can customise not just the car visuals, but the engine inside it and parts that upgrade your car's performance, although that part is locked til after the Prologue which only takes a few hours. The sounds are satisfying, the visuals are satisfying too - I personally like the cartoon style of the characters and the graffiti driving effects when you drift. I feel like it adds some character into your builds and a vibe of "street racing with graffiti" which fits the anti authority theme of the game. The story could be better. Well, the story isn't so bad but it's more the dialogue. Feels slightly cringey at times but bearable IMO. Is it a realistic racing sim? No. Is it meant to be? No. It's an arcade racer with a certain vibe and visual theme, one that some people will love and some people will hate. I like the driving in this game. It can be a bit janky at times I will admit but for the most part, going 200mph in a widebody Ford Mustang Boss and then drifting round the corner like you're Ken Block is enough for me to overlook the bad points in the game. There's a difficulty setting - I keep it at a medium level. AI seems like it's better than you at times, other times you manage to secure a good overtake and it feels great. Running from police is fun and nerve wrecking at the same time, especially when your car is deemed "risky" or "challenging" for the heat level you have acquired. If you're a hardcore old school NFS gamer then I can't guarantee you will like it. But as someone who is into cars and into customising them and then racing away from the rozzers (cops) like it's Fast and Furious, I recommend it :) (Also, specs are attached. Game runs perfectly fine for me with controller except the odd bug here and there.)
