Props to the team! Natural Disaster is so much fun and well-made. I had a great time trying to figure out all the paths of destruction my little butterfly could cause. Shark hat = 10/10

5/10 An unusual adventure/puzzle where you control a butterfly and start scripted events. Good: - the basic idea of "butterfly" effect is interesting - the 7 levels actually look nice, even though most objects have simple geometry - there is some humor in the texts and the events - I liked some black humor (e.g. when a guy dies, falls into water - and yet still after that gets eaten) So-so: - cause and effect are hard to figure out. More like, you press F all the time to see what objects can be interacted with and the fly to them and interact to see what will happen. Typically only after you see the scripted sequence you understand what object that was, what you interacted with. So there isn't any real agency, more like just watching - no music Bad: - butterfly controls are just horrible. It's hard to see where exactly in 3D it is located. In some of the scenes (e.g. the railway station) there is a shade but in others none. Moving a butterfly to a required spot is a challenge by itself. And a wrong kind of challenge which makes you lose interest in the game - some object seem to be impossible to interact with even though the F key shows particles spray. It's confusing and messy Overall, an interesting idea but not so well implemented. Worth a look though not sure you'll see more that 1-2 stories completed. I only managed one. You can turn the butterfly into a taxi 10/10 best game
"Natural Disaster: A Butterfly's Guide to Mass Destruction" is an amusing premise for a game that's somewhat let down by some unusual artistic choices and lacklustre technical implementation. In this game, which, bizarrely (and frankly a bit annoyingly) is presented with a "Stereoscope"/View-Master 3D picture viewer filter, you control a butterfly that flaps around. The objective is to trigger a series of events which cause a catastophe... a loose play on the whole "Butterfly Effect" thing, I suppose. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
It's no Batman. But you do get to punch a clown, so I'll allow it.
It's refreshing to play a game unlike anything I have ever seen before, especially one made by students. This games tries so many interesting things and lands on quite a few of them. This is definitely the type game that I could see coming out of Double Fine.
