It skips over Land of Waves and that sucks. It also glosses over a lot of the story moments but you get the big picture of part 1 Naruto. The combat is great though it gets better as the series moves forward. Open world is actually pretty cool but gets boring after a bit. Game isn't very long and if you buy the full series for $40 bucks it's worth it to play for the story alone.

Overall Rating: 8/10 Graphics: 7/10 - A bit dated but still look alright in 2026. Story ?/10 - If you like Naruto's story you'll like the game. Gameplay - 9/10 - Once you learn the combat, hitting some good combos feels amazingly rewarding. Tediousness - 9/10 - (Lower is better here) If you are going for a completionist run, some of the quests are extremely annoying to S rank, combine this with the workaround mentioned below for the hardest achievements and this game can be a bit of a nightmare. Fun game overall, great way to relive the OG story. Ported over well, some reviews are saying they were having trouble with controller support, I use a Switch Pro controller and enabled Steam controller support and it worked fine for me. For my fellow completionists, achievements are a bit annoying but in a fun challenging way other than the least completed ones, those are bugged on PC; good news is there's a workaround when going for any of the "Knockout an opponent in a specific way achievements" the game dects the controller as player 2 for some reason, simply start the game with no controller, change keyboard controls (L to get seetings on title screen) to make combat easier, go into Free Battle mode, change it from P1 vs COM to P1 vs P2, and plug in controller for P2. Additionally, it's important to note that this is one of the early adaptations done by CyberConnect but it still tells the story in an enjoyable to play-through manner. Not too related to the review but important to note is that for my experience, I played my first 41 hours of this back in 2020 during the pandemic I didn't complete the last 4 achievements until 2026 as at the time there was no workaround soi my memory on most of the annoying quest elements is a bit vague. Shoutout to reddit for finding the workaround.

this game has some really good qualities and overall a fun experience, but the open world sucks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass and it has major quality of life issues, it's frustrating to finish it and they removed the land of the waves arc, major flaw 7/10 the other games are better
