NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM Revolution

Considering it has been years after its initial release, it is not worth it to buy this game now; especially at its price point of €30,-. This game has nothing special to offer that is not included in later installments of the series, such as Storm4 and Connections. I like the game in general, as it approaches the series from a different angle, namely a tournament focused game. It's main gimmick is a 1-vs-1-vs-1-vs-1 arena battler using Orbs as a points system, for a certain number of rounds against and with different characters of the series. This is fun for the first couple of games, but it can be quite boring and repetitive after a while. Especially when you play single player, the tournament games mostly become a 1v3 arena battler against the comms. This can be quite aggrevating as you are stun stun-combo'd to 0 orbs. However, the difficulty of these bots are very low; even at S+ difficulty you won't struggle a lot. I can imagine that the tournament mode exclusive to this game might be fun when playing with friends, but in single player it is not worth it. Apart from the main tournament advanture mode, you also have a special Mecha Naruto mode which I liked a lot; it is basically the same thing as the normal tournament mode, but more focused on Mecha Naruto as an enemy. They also included 'Ninja Escapades', which is basically three exclusives shorts of the anime explaining how the Akatski was formed, the bond between Itachi and Shisui, and that of Obito and Kushina. These do include battles, so it was a fun experience. Regarding batte types, they introduced 'battle cap survival' mode, which is also a nice addition. A weird thing that I noticed was the unsual long loading times in this game. The frequency and the loading time between menus and areas is surprisingly high and long, which makes me question it's optimization. For example, I do not have this problem with all the other Storm games (1 through 4). Verdict: if you have friends with who you can play this game with, it might be fun. You might also enjoy this game if you just want the have played all the Naruto games available, as this game is quite unique compared to the other Storm games. The game itself fits nicely between Storm3 and Storm4 by adding some crucial info for the story that makes the transition from Storm3 to Storm4 more pleasant. However, besides that, I would recommend buying Storm4 instead. Storm4 includes the battle modes that this game has, and has a smoother battle experience and other need additions.
