About
Narik Chess is a chess client that supports a variety of variants, all of which can be played as standalone modes or in combination.

Conway Chess
Inspired by Conway's Game of Life, living slime cells spread, survive, and perish between turns. These evolving organisms reshape the battlefield in real time, creating shifting obstacles that both players must navigate.
Alice Chess
Pieces shift between the normal and Alice dimension after moving. Pieces can only capture when they start in the in same dimension as the piece they are capturing.
Multiverse Chess
Time travel becomes a new dimension of play. Pieces can move between historical boards, revisiting earlier turns to create branching timelines. Every new timeline remains active, forcing players to defend multiple realities at once.
Spell Chess
Cast powerful limited-use spells to alter the board, disrupt your opponent, and create tactical opportunities.
Duck Chess
After every turn, players must move the Duck — a wandering blocker that prevents all movement through its square. Master the chaos, outmaneuver your opponent, and never underestimate the Duck. Quack quack!

AI slop chess game, if you want to play chess. Consider playing chess.com Or buy this: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2965280/Chess/
Not any player online, not any game is on, all you need is to host and waiting if ever someone come. I know it's new type of chess games, but really not impress me at all.
Although I have not played it long enough imo to write a full review, the first impressions are good. The biggest down is maybe that it is not so easy to find opponents online, but this is with alot of games, in particular chess variants and especially when being new. The game has many options , like it is 5 games in 1 or you can combine those. So as an example ; you can play a mix between 5D chess with time travel and duck chess or just a more simple duck chess. There are even options of self-programmed boards to be important or so. The rules are quite clearly explained. There is no rating system at the moment. I played it with my touchpad and it works well. Also a plus is that they update regularly to improve, remove bugs and add options. Last update expanded like 25 % or so. In shorts, its a fun chess variants game with lots of options, it works smooth and I did not find bugs. What seems to be missing at the moment is being able to play against the computer and having a rating system. The games are fun and challanging. We need more chess variants on steam and this is the way to go. 7.7/10 based on the recent experience.

As someone who was mildly addicted to chess puzzles, it's great to see so many chess variants (and what seems like more being added each day!) in one place. Everything ran smoothly from my limited testing. I personally would love to see some single player content, e.g. rudimentary bots or simple puzzles using each variant (maybe could act as a tutorial for each variant?) so I could test more, but if you have someone to play with, there should be a ton to explore!
Well, I gave it a go. First thing I did was thoroughly check out its main menus interface. I must say I do enjoy the art. That's sort of where the highlight ended though. Upon not only searching for active games I found nothing available. I then attempted to host one, and had waited 20 minutes. Not a single player joined. The ones of this game might be something great here, but the player base simply isn't there yet.

Narik Chess is a creative strategy game developed and published by Narik Gaming LLC that takes the familiar foundations of traditional chess and expands them into something far more experimental. Instead of merely offering cosmetic changes or minor rule adjustments, the game introduces multiple alternative chess systems that fundamentally alter how matches are played. By combining concepts such as alternate dimensions, timeline manipulation, magical abilities, evolving board conditions, and customizable rule combinations, Narik Chess transforms one of the world's oldest strategy games into a platform for innovation and discovery. While traditional chess remains the inspiration behind the experience, players quickly realize that familiar strategies do not always guarantee success. The classic principles of positioning, tactical awareness, and long-term planning still matter, but they must now coexist with entirely new mechanics that can change the shape of the battlefield in unexpected ways. This creates a learning experience that feels fresh even for veteran chess players who have spent years mastering conventional strategies. One of the most fascinating aspects of the game is its willingness to challenge assumptions about how chess should function. Certain game modes introduce multiple realities where pieces can exist across parallel boards, forcing players to think beyond a single battlefield. Every move can have consequences in more than one location, creating situations where success depends on understanding relationships between dimensions rather than simply controlling territory on a standard board. This approach dramatically increases the strategic depth and makes each decision feel more significant. Another standout feature is the inclusion of time-based mechanics. Instead of viewing a match as a straightforward sequence of turns, some variants allow players to interact with different points in the timeline. Decisions can influence alternate versions of the game, creating branching possibilities that expand the strategic landscape far beyond what traditional chess offers. The concept is ambitious and introduces a unique layer of complexity that encourages creative thinking rather than rote memorization of established openings. Magic-inspired abilities add another dimension to gameplay. These powers provide players with limited opportunities to alter the state of the board, disrupt enemy plans, or create unexpected advantages. Because these abilities are restricted resources, choosing the right moment to activate them becomes a crucial strategic consideration. The result is a blend of classical board game planning and resource management that feels distinct from standard chess while preserving the importance of careful decision-making. The game also experiments with dynamic environments that actively affect the match. Some modes feature living elements that grow, spread, and transform the battlefield over time. These changing conditions create an additional challenge because players must account not only for their opponent's actions but also for the evolving state of the board itself. The environment becomes a strategic factor rather than a static playing field, introducing uncertainty that keeps matches engaging and unpredictable. One of the more entertaining additions is the presence of movable obstacles that players can reposition after making their turns. These blockers can disrupt attacks, protect vulnerable pieces, and force opponents to rethink their plans. What initially appears to be a simple mechanic reveals surprising depth as players learn to use these obstacles as strategic tools. This feature demonstrates the game's broader philosophy of taking familiar concepts and introducing creative twists that generate entirely new forms of gameplay. Perhaps the greatest strength of Narik Chess is its modular design. Players are not limited to a single variant. Different rule sets can be combined, resulting in matches that feel completely unique. A game might involve alternate dimensions, magical powers, dynamic terrain, and timeline manipulation all at the same time. This flexibility creates an enormous amount of replay value because the possible combinations are extensive. Every new configuration presents fresh challenges and opportunities for experimentation. Multiplayer support further enhances the experience. Whether competing online, playing locally, or sharing the screen with friends, the game's unusual mechanics often lead to memorable moments and surprising outcomes. Since many players will be encountering these rule sets for the first time, matches frequently become collaborative learning experiences where discovery is just as important as victory. This atmosphere encourages experimentation and helps build a sense of excitement around exploring new strategies. Visually, the game adopts a clean and functional presentation that prioritizes readability. Given the complexity of the mechanics, this design choice is particularly effective. Players can focus on understanding the strategic systems without being distracted by excessive visual effects. The interface communicates important information clearly, ensuring that even the more complicated variants remain manageable. Another appealing aspect is the game's commitment to ongoing development. The developers have embraced community feedback and continue refining the experience through updates and improvements. This approach is especially valuable for a strategy game built around experimentation, as player input can help shape balance adjustments and future additions. The evolving nature of the project gives it the potential to continue growing long after its initial release. Narik Chess ultimately succeeds because it respects the intellectual foundation of chess while boldly exploring new possibilities. It preserves the importance of planning, tactics, and strategic thinking but surrounds those concepts with innovative systems that dramatically expand the scope of the game. Whether players are interested in alternate realities, time-travel mechanics, magical powers, or simply discovering unusual ways to challenge themselves, the game offers a wealth of possibilities. For strategy enthusiasts looking for something beyond traditional chess, Narik Chess delivers an imaginative and highly replayable experience. Its combination of classic gameplay principles and experimental mechanics creates a unique platform where creativity is rewarded as much as technical skill. It stands as both a tribute to chess and an ambitious attempt to reinvent it for players eager to explore entirely new strategic frontiers. Rating: 6/10
