No tutorial, no newbie content, pay to play. You'll first wander around to find out how you can play without a single card in your collection. Once you did so, you will have to learn how the game works as you fight real players (surprisingly easy, the arts are beautiful but the gameplay is pure copy-paste of heartstone). After you win by luck (there are very few cheap creatures in "free" decks, so whoever has the less worse starting hand wins the game), you'll get dragon scales, allowing to buy cards... I mean, junk cards other players throw out. Boosters can only be bought with real money. Oh, and you also lose 1 scale each time you get defeated, and if you have no more, well you can't play anymore. The gameplay is basically heartstone clone, but very, very basic. Absolutely no reason to play this unless you enjoy building decks out of scrap.
Very buggy right now. Difficult to play, cards just get dragged around the screen and won't get "played". Limited way to get starter cards, can only play with a random deck at first for a couple games and then can get cards only if you win. No way to learn the game yet. Edit: After play more trying to work around the bugs, the game just isn't very exciting. It's like if Hearthstone was stripped down to it's most boring mechanics. Swift cards are massively over-statted. Maybe it's just the random beginner decks that are boring but it's not worth buying random booster packs hoping there are more interesting mechanics in them.

I have just over 15 hours in Mythrel at this point. This review is entirely my own thoughts. It is a remarkable case of a physical / digital TCG hybrid done right. For those unaware, this is the digital edition of the game meant to be enjoyed side by side with the physical game. What that means is that when you buy IRL packs you get a code to redeem for a digital pack in each booster. That said, the digital game is out now and the physical packs will be out within the year, possibly even sooner than anticipated! The game has a ton of character and is well programmed. The UI is very easy to navigate, cards are beautifully illustrated and for an early peek at the universe of Mythrel everything works incredibly well! So the elephant in the room: Monetization. As alluded to before there is an inherent value expected of the cards themselves as the community grows no doubt things will fluctuate. The game offers booster packs however the initial 1st edition digital boosters are only available until July 1st 2023. After that these will no longer be obtainable until 2nd edition. There is also a player marketplace where you can trade cards for booster packs. In order to play with a deck of your own you need at least 25 cards, and with 9 cards per booster you're looking at 3-4 boosters to make a deck to start out in order to play the Origins game mode. At the moment however it is very easy to learn the game in the Vortex game mode where you do not have to spend a single cent to enjoy Mythrel at its best. The Vortex game mode lets you play with a randomly assigned deck and face an opponent who also has a random deck! In addition, there is a Gauntlet game mode that is like Vortex except you wager up a scale, win and you gain 1-4 scales lose and you lose 1 scale. Everyone starts with 10 scales. Overall the game has proven very fun, quick to pick up and play, and has a very enthusiastic community. We've already had a tournament for the game and a second is scheduled for a couple of days out! I recommend giving it a shot, since the first couple of days things have really changed now that vortex is entirely free to play. The dev is constantly updating the game with bug fixes and is great about addressing community concerns and input. With Mythrel being available across Android, iOS, and Steam this game is bound to grow quickly. Good luck and have fun!
Probably one of the most ill-thought out and poorly explained CCG models I've ever seen. There's zero on-boarding or tutorial to even explain what the game is about, and the mode people are expected to play when they start consists of completely random decks. Not a sealed pool, not a draft, just completely randomized. Good luck having a playable curve, if you can even TELL where a mana curve for a deck is supposed to start at first glance. The "free to play" aspect of the game is complete and absolute nonsense. You get a limited amount of currency to play games with completely random decks, which might net you currency IF you win, which you then also have to spend to buy cards on the market. I sincerely recommend people go play almost anything else, until the developer gets their game together.
You have no tutorial, no explanation about how you play. You must figure it out by yourself in PVP matches all while you gamble the only currency that makes the game "free-to-play".
Great game feels like hearthstone, card art is really nice. best to join the discord and let people know you are looking for a game. if you've played hearthstone before you'll pick it up right away. Could really use a tutorial to make things clear. When you get in game hit play Mythrel and then Vortex and quick play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noLotpLllxU Heres a video explaining the game better.
As a long time TCG/CCG veteran and collector...this game really scratches the itch. I'm always looking for new digital and physical card games...and this is BOTH! The game's digital client plays really well. All the resources you'd need to play the game physically are in place and the first physical wave of packs is being shipped soon. Devs are active on Discord. Actual digital marketplace for trading/buying/selling cards. Get in now while you can grab those sweet sweet alpha 1st edition set cards. What more could you want?
The game is dead. Grabbed some quick money at kickstarter and with selling card packs and abandon it. There is no player base, cause you can't play without paying real money for packs. So don't waste your time
All the people complaining have less than an hour of playtime. This game is insanely fun. With art that stands out, and the gameplay of 2016 Hearthstone. It has the potential to be great, and I KNOW the developers care. Join the Discord and you will see the care and effort put into making this game what it is. Give it a try and you'll be hooked, I guarantee it.
Mythrel is a fast and fun trading card game. What is awesome about Mythrel is it is Digital and Physical! I can play my friends all over the globe from the comfort of my dungeon!!! The game is fast paced as you have a maximum of 60 seconds per turn to make your moves, so you need to think on your feet and be ready to attack. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes trading card games, battle games, fast paced action games or even people who like to collect cards and art. The artwork on the cards are really top notch and the branding is consistent. If you are new to Mythrel, and just downloaded the game, start off by going into the Vortex Realms. There you can play with random opponents with a randomized deck, this is great to learn what card combos work and which need to be replaced with better cards. Once you have the hang of the game you can purchase booster packs and build your own custom decks to battle others in other Realm modes.
