A Faithful Reimagining
I originally played the first Duelyst, and was quite disappointed when the original servers shutdown. So, when I saw that a more refined and faster paced reboot had been released, I was pleasantly surprised. So far it seems to be very faithful to the original, and is just a quicker paced version of the game I loved. Balancing might become an issue down the road as people figure out what cards are meta, but for this beginning stage, the starting decks seem to be decently balanced. There are some other reboots of the original Duelyst on Steam, but this version stands out to me, as right now I feel the quicker pace works in the game's favor.
Content
The main mode that is offered is the ranked queue, with some smaller modes to practice and learn the basics of the game. There isn't a ton of content just yet, as it seems Solo Challenges past the first 5 levels, and the draft mode, are not in the game just yet. However, even while lacking these extra modes, the ranking system feels substantial enough.
Small Issues
There are some smaller details on the PC version that need refining, such as low quality start of battle images, some text that is a bit clipped off on cards, and the general menu UI could use a bit of a touch up. However, I haven't encountered any bugs in the gameplay so far, which is far more important.
Monetization
Just like the original, Spirit Orbs can be purchased for money, however this has been disabled on the PC version and is completely optional, as Spirit Orbs can be earned solely through playing the game. I was never too keen on this in the original, but a free game has to make money somehow.
Final Thoughts
If you liked the original, or if you enjoy card games such as Hearthstone, I highly recommend trying a few matches to see if the gameplay loop clicks with you. I see a lot of potential in this reboot and hope that updates are soon to come!

I am James White, this game is very fun very swag i like it, one of the best card game that i have played, the combat is fun, the sound is amazing, very exciting card game, and it's free , very cool very swag i like it, everyone play it now , you won't regret
I beta tested the OG like, over 10 years ago and played for years. People look at the OG with rosey red glasses and don't remember the meta being "solved" within a week of a patch. That being said, this is the classic version without the power creep that happened, and limiting mana to 6 and lowering the General's health to 20 did SO much for the game. The tempo is quicker, the decisions are more palpable. Shout out to this dev because they loved this game and are doing a very faithful job.
Combat pacing is nice, and most of the card rebalancing towards lower mana curve is ok for casual play, which I enjoy. However, the spirit orbs (getting new cards) progression is downright awful. I understand that dev wants to earn money, though very little thought was put into basic retention loop. If I need to play like 3 months every day just to have 1 competitive deck for 1 faction, there is no chance I will do it. There are options with low cost decks, and I used them (got S rank 1, as most of opponents feels like bot lobby), but when you run into those who paid money there is very low chance of winning. There is nothing fun about playing your low tier decks against opponents who have legendary grade cards which downright stronger or a better response that anything you could have in half a year as f2p player, focusing on just one deck on one faction. This is kinda sad, I really like duelyst 2 draw meta since the release.
Duelyst: Blitz failed to repeat the success of Duelyst 1. Duelyst: Blitz also lags and runs slowly. It's difficult and takes a long time to obtain useful cards in the early period. The game mechanism isn't fun because it keeps a new player losing.
It's a bit ♥♥♥♥ to not even let me unlock all my cards, or finish all the tutorial challenges, before you drop me into my very first match against someone two full tiers above me and using a meta deck! (to be clear, the challenges are gated behind playing x number of online games). So, I guess it's probably no more "pay to win and get your face smashed in by grognards" than any other collectable cardgame, including IRL ones, but it's made a terrible first impression! This PC version is also lacking. There's an option menu across the top of the screen that doesn't do anything useful (presumably it's the tool they're using to run this mobile port on PC). Right mouse button is treated just like left mouse button, so you'll go to cancel an action (out of muscle memory) only to misplay. Tooltips often open the wrong way such that the edge is cut off. Minor annoyances, but the main thing is it is, apparently, "shell out for the correct cards or be prepared to do nothing but lose for a while".
Great game made by a dedicated developer. It's clear a lot of effort and care went into the design.
⚔️🎶 Duelyst: Blitz Review — Fast, Tactical, and Honestly Feeling Better Balanced Than Duelyst 2 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I’ve played a lot of Duelyst and Duelyst 2 and reached S-Rank, so I went into Duelyst: Blitz curious about how it would feel. After spending time playing it live on stream, I can say this: I’m genuinely impressed. The biggest thing Blitz gets right is pacing. Matches feel quicker and more energetic while still keeping the tactical depth that makes Duelyst special. The lower health and card differences make games resolve faster, which fits the “Blitz” name perfectly. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▶ What I Really Like ⚡ Fast Matches Games resolve quicker while still rewarding good tactical decisions. 🧠 Balance Feels Strong Honestly, the game currently feels more balanced than Duelyst 2 in several situations. 🤖 AI Practice Mode Is Useful The AI can be tough even with starter decks, which makes practice mode a great place to refine your strategy before going into ranked. 📖 Extra Card Lore I really like the additional lore attached to cards. Small detail, but it adds personality to the game. 🎯 Practice Matches Start Approachable Early matches are easy enough for new players to learn the mechanics without frustration. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▶ Improvements I’d Love to See 🖱 Right Click Should Cancel Actions Right-click currently behaves like left-click. It would feel much better if right-click canceled actions. ⌨️ Sequential Input Handling Sometimes two quick actions in a row (like move → attack) don’t register correctly. Input buffering could fix this. 🎁 Duplicate Card Rewards Practice rewards can give cards you already own. A duplicate protection or conversion system would help. 🧭 Onboarding Flow After the tutorial, new players should probably go to **Practice mode instead of Ranked**, especially since many players already have Duelyst experience. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▶ Minor Technical Notes • I encountered a white screen loading issue once (restart fixed it). • Discord verification notification appears to persist even after joining. Nothing major, just polish items. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▶ Feature Idea 📺 Twitch Integration This game already works great for streaming. Some features that could be awesome: • Viewer interactions • Stream overlays • Spectator tools It could really help the game grow in the streaming community. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ▶ Final Thoughts Blitz already feels like a strong evolution of the Duelyst formula. With a bit more polish on input handling, rewards, and onboarding, this could easily become the best modern Duelyst experience available. If the developer ever needs help testing or feedback, I’d be happy to help support the project. ✨⚔️ See you on the ladder — maybe I’ll go for #1 Vetruvian in Blitz.
good game!
Really enjoying this one so far. matches are quick and easy to jump into but still have some depth. The art and overall style are great too. simple, fun, and good for a few matches when you got some time.
