My Free Farm 2

My Free Farm 2 is a casual farming game that I can take at my own pace. I start with a small farm and gradually turn it into a much bigger operation by growing crops, looking after animals, building production facilities and selling what I make. It is more of a farm and tycoon game than a serious farming simulator, and I think that suits it quite well. The colourful 3D style also gives it a very relaxed feel, so I never feel like I am being thrown into something too complicated. What I enjoy most is the way everything connects together. I can grow crops and then use them as ingredients for other products, while animals give me things that can also be processed and sold. As my farm grows, I have to think about where I put buildings and how I use the available space. There are also quests, seasonal events and different orders to work towards, so I usually have something else to do besides waiting for another crop to finish growing. I like that the farm slowly becomes more of a little production chain rather than just a collection of fields. The animals are another nice part of it for me. I can keep cows, pigs, chickens, goats and other animals, and looking after them gives the farm a bit more life. I also like the smaller things that can happen around the property, such as stray animals appearing or finding different things to do as I progress. The game does not make me worry about animals dying or crops withering, which makes it much more relaxing than farming games where I have to constantly keep track of everything. I can take my time without feeling like one missed day has ruined my farm. One of the more interesting additions is the riverside bistro. Once I reach the required level, I can unlock it and use ingredients from my farm to prepare meals for customers. I have to get their orders ready quickly if I want better tips, so it gives me a slightly more active side activity compared with the normal farming loop. The day and night system is also useful because some crops can only be planted at night. I like these little changes because they give me reasons to pay attention to parts of the farm that I might otherwise ignore. The biggest issue for me is the waiting. This is very much a game built around timers, production and gradually improving my farm, so there are plenty of moments where I have done everything I can and simply have to wait for something to finish. The online requirement is another thing I do not particularly like. Even though I can play the game by myself, I still need to be connected to the internet, which feels unnecessary for something that I can mostly experience on my own. The free to play setup also includes in game purchases, and I have to be careful not to let the slower progression push me towards spending money. I also think the game can become repetitive once the initial excitement of expanding the farm starts to disappear. I am still doing the same basic things over and over, just with more crops, animals and production buildings. That is not necessarily a bad thing because farming games are supposed to be repetitive to some extent, but I think it depends on how much I enjoy slowly building up a farm. For me, the decorations, quests, production chains and different areas give the routine enough variety to keep it interesting for quite a while. Overall, My Free Farm 2 is a relaxing little farming and management game that works best when I do not rush it. I like building up the farm, turning raw materials into better products, looking after animals and eventually running the bistro. The waiting, online requirement and free to play mechanics do hold it back, and I would have preferred a little more freedom in how quickly I can progress. Still, there is a lot here for a casual farming game, and I like having something I can check on regularly without needing to give it my full attention every time. Rating: 7.5/10
