Story - Content
Move The Chains is a visual novel containing a deep story, erotic animation, detailed disclaimers about the game should only be played by mature people, and some other things. The game is played throughout the main protagonist's POV. On the first time the game is opened, they’ll present a detailed disclaimer about this being an adult game consisting of harm, drugs, intercourse, and violent scenes. And is meant to be played by mature people and is not a game to be joked about or taken silly. These disclaimers only popped up once for me, at the first time opening. After that, it did not show up. Move The Chains presents a detailed tutorial with a very well-made and cute little fox, which is the one themselves who explains every tab and setting there is, as well as some features within the game itself. The only issue I've stumbled upon was leaving the tutorial and settings tab after watching it. This did only happen if the player decided to watch it in the main menu from the settings tab and not after starting a game and agreed to proceed with the tutorial. Trying to leave the tutorial (once opened from the settings tab) puts one back in the settings tab, and trying to close the settings tab by pressing X restarts the tutorial. When starting a new game, the player gets to choose if they want to turn off or keep on some certain aspects like Netori, Drug, LGBTQ+, N-Word Censor, and Letterboxing. Beside all of these tabs, there is a detailed explanation of what they are or what they consist of. If you had an eye on the tutorial, it explains to the player that the game has different stats, which are obtained from the choices you make. And as well as currency, or money, which the player can use to either spend it on themselves or invest it in businesses, or donate to charity. One small detail that either the tutorial did not show or I most likely forgot and did not try for myself was: whenever a small yellow text pops up in the dialog tab, the player can press it, and it will open up a notebook with the description of what that word means or refers to.
!Spoiler Warning – Small Overview of Story!

Move The Chains is a story about a guy who falls into some bad ♥♥♥♥ and has to spend time in jail. After he’s released, he reunites with a couple of old friends who are there to pick him up and grab something to eat. Without a job and no sight of continuing the career as a football player, all he is left with is the memory of the girl who caused all this to happen. It caused him to do what he did and go to jail for it. But then, unsuspectedly, one day a man approaches him on the street and has a little chat, revealing that he is the coach for a football team and is willing to recruit him as a player. Of course he had to think about it, but a meeting was planned and days before the meeting. In and out came coaches from different football teams and requested if he would join their team. All got the same answer from him and left, and it ended up with him joining the coach who seemed most reliable. The coach who had to live like he did. Poor, parentless, and homeless. And that he doesn't care what happened in the past but what he can do in the future. And as the story progresses deeper, the more you’ll learn and the more of the women you will discover.

Visual & Audio
Visuals The visuals for the game truly amaze me. The lighting and shadows, the brim lights, the detailed surroundings. And the intimate animations, they’re longer than most other games. And for the bigger amount of those within this game, it's almost impossible to see when it repeats. The animation scenes are long and lustful; they might not have sound, but the length and heat they build up within one. They’re long and smooth but, at the same time, a bit unsmooth; it can be seen when looking closer at it, but it still looks very good. The characters look realistic, good, combined with the light, good clothing, and no colliding. They just look well done and so detailed, even during animations. Some visual errors have occurred within certain intimate animations. These errors aren’t anything major and probably won’t be fixed, but who knows? Maybe the developers see this and fix it later when all chapters (or before all chapters) are done. Some textures, like small parts of color on surrounding objects, twitch color during intimate animations. (I think this happened during one of the first animations between the two) And clothing error/colliding at some intimate scenes. Audio The first chapter/realm doesn’t contain any kind of sound effects during intimacy. All we get throughout the game is medieval instrumental music played on a gittern (Medieval Guitar). Though this is unfortunate for no sound effects, the music is beautiful and truly fits in for the game by its fantasy, thrilling style. Throughout the game you will unlock more music that will be played and rewatchable scenes.
Pros and Cons
-Pros

Visuals & Animation Textures
Music & Background Music/sounds
Story & Lore
Main Menu
Detailed Tutorial
Detailed Information from Developer
-Cons

Tutorial Exit/Closing Error/Bug

My final little thoughts
From what I've noticed, this story will take a few hours to complete, but it is highly worth the time since I simply scratched the surface after almost two hours. The animations and textures, along with the music and sound and how it fades and is not simply played. These all make it more realistic and more fascinating and enjoyable. The game is currently still being worked on and is to be released on the 8th of November, but go try out the demo if you read this before its release and if it’s already out. I highly recommend getting it and trying it for yourself if you enjoy a spicy, dramatic, and deep-lore visual novel. This game gave me carpal tunnel syndrome, and NOT the good kind. Been playing this game for abt 16 hours and nothing of interest has happened. its only talk talk talk without any substance. It's one mouse click after the other....
The AVN is based on a football player which is a narrative seems to be a very unique for a main character and should have great potential. The renders are good and no bugs or problems occurred while playing. The story has too much conversation and not much substance thus far. The developer seems to be fixated on tattoos and brunettes. The decisions choices are rather limited with little story variation. The dialogue is definitely geared for a younger generation. Definitely needs some work at this point but does have potential. Overall can't recommend at this point but will revisit.
So far this game feels like something written bye someone who doesn't understand what they are writing... What do I mean bye that? Lets take the Football stuff, most of it is very vague and very broad and high level thoughts on football except that important set of downs that evidently sets up your character where he is task to play spy?!? "A CB" tasked with playing Spy??? Granted at this point in time you have no idea your a CB... So you don't read into this too much at that point... Now in this set of downs our main character blows up the screen play meaning the "the CB" main character evidently Not playing Man coverage on the outside against the teams best WR has let who ever he is lined up on blow past him, which certainly would be easy on a screen to do... Now the CB sniff's out the play as a screen and he blows up the Back, lay's him out, and the ball come's loose... you pick up the loose ball you caused and return it for a touchdown and the game is telling you that you got a pick6?!? No you caused a fumble you didn't intercept the ball? This was not a pick6.... But if felt like pick6 was shoe horned in as latter Deon Sanders is shoe horned in, the choice of the main character to be a CB at all feels like a person who has a very casual knowledge of football picking their favorite football player probably Deon Sanders and then attempting to write the type of heroic scene that Deon Sanders would have had in a football game.... However they failed as Deon would not be playing Spy... Could he have blown up a screen play if he was on a "Blitz" yeah that's more probable and would make more sense and explain why a CB would leave their WR and be in the backfield in a position to blow up a screen.... The choice of using spy as an assignment for a CB just makes this all wrong.... Alright lets get past the football side of it feeling like fiction written bye someone who might be a football fan but lacking in actual football knowledge... Now their is the pleasant surprise that the game actually has other dude's in it, at first I was happy to find out the game wasn't going to be the standard all men in society have vanished for story purposes AVN.... But man the banter the back and forth dialogue between the guys either I am old at this point or my rural america upbringing can't relate to this bizarre and strange guy talking to guy dialogues... Sorry I just can't imagine most of these conversations in the game taking place in real life... So in the end these other guys feel like they all exist to be "Other Roosters in the Hen house" But guys are not chickens we don't look at other men as competition for mating. It feels like a female fantasy of how men would act with each other... Now the next issue so far is a hard one for me to put a finger on but in general I find the writing to not only feel like its often times being intentionally vague leaving the player feeling confused as to his back story more often then not... but its so filled with drama this young man I am playing as is the most "Estrogen" filled young man I have ever been forced to walk in his shoes... Meaning I have so far to date had very little to NO player agency over the avatar of me... And to make it worse this guy is non stop walking drama. He is everything I CAN'T relate to as a guy. If this guy honestly existed I certainly would want nothing to do with him.... So how am I suppose to play a game as him??? And ultimately and most importantly I am this far in and I have had very little to no actual choices to make, I am very confused as too all the review's I read about this game being well written with a lot of meaningful choice? Well at this point I certainly do not agree with the well written aspect and again I find myself scratching my head about what choice???
whoever created this game clearly spent more time getting there politics into the game than worrying about dialogue that makes sense and a story that moves along in a sensible way.
** Review Based on content through Episode 3 of Early Access ** Cons: * Animations need some work - they are short and a little stiff. * I already knew this was the case as I chatted with the developer about it beforehand, but just for informative purposes for others, this game is intended to be more of a harem style instead of a romance game - which, to me, is definitely a negative, I prefer AVNs like "Race of Life", "Summer's Gone", "Being A ♥♥♥" that are, or can be, relationship focused on getting into and managing a relationship along with the challenges of the narrative, whatever they may be etc. because they add realism to the story, but this game is probably the best harem style I've seen so far as it at least seems to put effort into developing an emotional side of the various relationships with the LIs in the game so that it doesn't just feel like one big open relationship. My hope is maybe by the end of the game the developer will let the player kind of select a solo relationship route if desired (similar to "City of Broken Dreamers" - bad game overall, but the way Philly handled that aspect at the end was good - open until the final bit of the game and then you could make choices to end with a specific LI if desired, with an end-game, etc to close things out). Time will tell on this one. * Not a huge fan of the excessive tattoos on the MC, particularly the chestplate. Pros: * Game has a large cast of characters, and LIs - one of the things that hurts many AVNs out there is a small cast. For a game to be immersive, the cast of characters has to make the world feel real and that means lots of characters and personalities including other guys in the game as well - this game has that. It's similar to Summer's Gone in terms of scope and that is very complimentary. * Developer put in a choice system at the start of the game so you can turn off LGBT stuff - much appreciated. * Still art is pretty good - not Summer's Gone or FreshWomen level, but very solid, definitely leaning toward the top end of the current AVN spectrum. * Game has a LOT of dialogue - I like that very much. I've played plenty of AVNs where there is barely any dialogue - it's important to have lots of dialogue to drive character interaction, narrative, and the details and get to know the characters. * Building on the above, the game is more of a slow-burn style, which I like a lot as it takes the time to build the story up and set the stage with all the characters & LIs before the real relationship / romantic stuff and dramatic twists and turns start happening. For example I'd been playing the game for like 3-5 hours before the MC even gets to college. By the end of Episode 3 they aren't even to football pre-season camp, yet, it's all stage-setting so far, which is great. * Love the football angle with this game - it's basically a Divison I college football setting which is fantastic since I'm a huge Ohio State and college football fan. It's still college setting like many AVNs, but it's such a different spin on things with a heavy sports focus that it feels like something very fresh that hasn't been done before. * Building on the previous point there are attributes during the football games where you will have to select traits to build the character into the style of play you want - it will influence future matchups as actual in-season games start coming in terms of the main character's pros and cons (strength, speed, intelligence for the game, etc.) * Not even remotely "woke". * No additional DRM, or additional launchers required. * No EOS (Epic Online Services) embedded in the game. * No censorship that I am aware of (thank you for not censoring the language in the game - as an FYI for players, the dev put in what's basically the equivalent of a "snowflake" filter that players who get their feelings hurt easily by certain words can turn on to adjust things down to "training wheels" level if needed.) Early Access Suggestion: * Just an idea to toss out and the developer may already be planning this further down the storyline, but some of the events the MC goes to for NIL, etc. like a glitzy party for example, might set up in a way for him to ask one of the LIs to go - "Race of Life" did this with one of their big events in Episode 2 and it was pretty cool - you could choose one of 3 or 4 of the LIs to go with you depending on your relationship level with them, etc. It does create extra work as the dev has to basically write and render the scene however many times there are choices of girls to take to the event, but it can create some unique branching for the player's storyline where certain events and interactions with other characters may be different as a result. The more the player can influence the events in the game with his decisions, the more invested he can become as stories that are on rails can get a little frustrating if you can't decide how to respond in certain situations, etc. * Also ensure to continue giving players the precision to be able to control the MC's reactions in terms of fighting, etc - he's a hothead, that's obvious very early on, but many players will want to shape him into a more mature adult and professional versus an immature kid - I appreciate that freedom very much as a player. Game Length: 11-13 hours - playtime will vary depending your choices and how quickly you read through the material. Took me around 12 hours but I take my time on games and don't try to rush through them. Final Rating: 9/10 - This game pulled me in based on the football angle, the large cast of characters, the attractiveness of the love interests (favorites are Alaina, Ria, Diana (with patch, IYKYK), and Parker - Lydia looks attractive but we haven't really had much interaction with her yet), and just the uniqueness of the premise. I rarely try games in Early Access, but I took a chance on this game and I'm very glad I did. Absolutely looking forward to more - this is an easy recommend at full price. I hope the game doesn't get abandoned (one of the reasons I rarely buy games in Early Access) - so if you're taking a look at this game, I'd urge you to give this one a chance and support the developer.
EA 18+ AVN + high quality scenes + lots of girls = Story driven American football college theme with animations. Plenty of scenes with a variety of girls. Party and train. Looking forward to updates. 8/10 Incredible visuals, likable and varied characters all around, and engaging story. The writing is mostly very good, but there tends to be a lot of preachy monologues and exposition and trauma dumps. There's a large amount of football references, which can be confusing even with the explanations. There's also too many LIs to the point where you have a hard time keeping track of everyone. Would be better if there was a stronger focus on a few central characters to create more emotional depth. Just nitpicking though and I can’t help but give it a good rating if only for the amazing renders. Barring a few minor details, an good game. If you liked AVN like Summer's gone with dark/moving story, and all that type of sh!t this one is for you, was the case for me. Gonna keep an eye on this one for sure and see where it goes/can't wait for more. Good luck with the rest of the story dev!
Alot of spelling mistakes! some made it hard to follow the conversations correctly. Then there's the awful way they talk. This should not be allowed to even be a released game at all. I get that it's a game about rising above the area you're raised in. But NO! I've lived in areas like that. There was still a bit of decorum of how people talked to one another. Was even a baller in college. But we had to watch what we said, no matter what. Hated every part of the game. Still can't believe I put 13hrs into it. Most on pause so I can get other stuff done, but still. This goes in My "♥♥♥♥ game" file, and will hide it. NEVER been more offended at a game, or it's devs, as much as this one.
game isn't bad, could do with out all the anti woke crap. it keeps popping up frequently, the whole i got in trouble because i was white, woke this and that, ill get in trouble for using wrong pronouns..... i mean not having any of this wouldn't have mad the game any different. there is a lot of characters in the game that made it hard to keep track of whos who, and made it difficult to really connect with any of them. story i thought was good, someone trying to leave the streets and take his loved ones with him. i'm not much of a sports fan so it helps with explaining some of the terms. i guess it has some bad coding in it because they had to keep stopping the game to ask what decision i made earlier. did have one crash but i clicked skip and the story continued. i thought that the renders were good, only complaint is some of the li's looked to similar. wish they did more with their stat system and money. stats were only given in one scene and not used after, the money you really couldn't do anything with, i had almost 2 mill by the end of the game and spent like 400k on a house i think. i will probably get the next one if they have another.
