About
Mortimer: First Launch is a 3D puzzle stealth adventure starring Mortimer, a raccoon with big dreams and a scientific mind. Set in a whimsical, fantasy version of Florida's Hatbill Park near the Kennedy Space Center, Mortimer navigates his environment, solves puzzles, and collects the parts he needs to build a rocket and achieve his dream of reaching the moon, all while avoiding humans and predatory wildlife along the way.
The First Launch version of the game includes the tutorial, taking place at Mortimer's home and the nearby Hatbill Park camping area.
Mortimer: First Launch is a work in progress by a team of students from Jyväskylä University of Applied Science in Jyväskylä, Finland.

- Run, walk, crawl, climb and swim through the swamps, rivers and campgrounds in the Hatbill Park area.
- Solve environmental puzzles integrated into the game world.
- Sneak past humans, wildlife and other obstacles using stealth and cunning.
- Puzzle-Stealth Gameplay: Use a combination of logic, physics and deductive reasoning to overcome challenges and obtain rocket parts.
- Stylized Art: A medium-poly world brought to life with toon shading and vibrant colors.
- Interactable Environments: Each area contains interactable elements, environmental storytelling, and a few hidden secrets.
- Narrative Cutscenes: Story beats are conveyed through a mixture of animated cutscenes and custom 2D art.
- Immersive Audio: Ambisonic audio crafted using custom made generators help the world feel alive and believable.
- Accessibility: Mortimer: First Launch features no spoken lines, instead relying on facial expressions, 2D art and animated thought bubbles to convey information.
- Visual Effects: Comic book inspired visual effects accompany certain key actions during gameplay.
Join Mortimer on a journey that’s as much about solving puzzles as it is about dreaming big!

I couldn't get the tutorial to go away no matter how many logs I jumped which made it hard for me to enjoy the game. Despite that I don't like putting Nor Recommended for completely free games unless they are unplayable. Opinion covered in my Free2Play Weekly Recap video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx3e-Tb3fp4
great fun, it's free, cute raccoon? Play it.

Booted up Mortimer: First Launch thinking it was just another quirky indie. Ended up accidentally cheering for a little astronaut gremlin. 🚀 – Launching Mortimer feels less like a mission and more like babysitting a space potato with dreams – The physics are hilarious — every successful move looks like luck, every fail looks like a Looney Tunes sketch – Accidentally overshot orbit once and called it “exploration” – Soundtrack makes even my dumbest crash landings feel epic – It’s not the biggest game in the galaxy, but it’s got heart, charm, and way too much slapstick gravity 8/10. Mortimer: First Launch isn’t just a space game, it’s a cosmic comedy about learning to fall… upwards. 🌌
Had to use the guide for the last piece. This was fun...i wouldn't mind a more refined version of this game if the devs want to take a crack at second launch. You play a raccoon who wants to build a rocket. Don't get caught by the people. Hopefully if there's a sequel they'll do something about Mortimers face XD
Mortimer: First Launch.... Well that was definitely a unique experience! For a game made by a group of student's, for what it's worth it's actually quite a fun experience, it definitely could do with some much needed improvement's, but it doesn't leave a "sour taste in your mouth" like feeling after completing the game and actually make's me somewhat intrigued as to what future game's either in this same style/world or even just from the same developer will look in the future. It's definitely worth checking this out and showing some needed love to a smaller developer! Solid 6/10
