Joy of exploration in a roguelite world
MoonQuest is a well designed randomly generated roguelite with fitting soundtrack (which is most likely silent) and unique sandbox elements like digging, simple crafting and semi-open world regions that only wait to be explored. Almost every aspect of this game have something in it, making it interesting and fun to explore. And those aspects are:

Going for an adventure to retrive
MoonStones™
to power
MoonMachine™
and
bring back light to the world

Delving undergrounds, exploring forgotten tombs, chopping down bushy forests, climbing skyscraping mountains and visiting small towns to trade or just talk with NPCs
Fighting challenging enemies and bosses
Variety of characters to choose from. Every with different backstory, buffs and debuffs that only wait to be discovered
For a roguelikelike game is super easy at begining of every run because it takes you to die five times to hit permadeath. Only with every death it gets harder by lowering your max HP. Although that MoonQuest is in early access right now, you can still enjoy already big content that will expand within new updates. PS. I saw some people complaining about that there is no tutorial in game but that is definitely not a drawback. Many games this days lead you by the hand showing you what you have to do and how to do it but this game is different, this game is forcing you to finding out by yourself, by losing many times, how to play it. PSS. This review was written within release of the version "Build 421400"
Got in on the kickstarter in 2015. Looked interesting and fun. Final verdict? Play Terraria instead. Skip this one.
I really wanted to like this game, the graphics is very cool, appealing, and the colours are in the right place. the gameplay is not bad, i felt satisfied when i manage to conquer my first armor as a human... however the gameplay itself gets insanely spoiled by those procedural maps where you have to dig continuosly in narrow places and build small steps to get out of it...with the controller is unpleasant, with the mouse less, however to reach the loot you need to dig in places like a castle, the structure of this castle is not normal: eg. wide, open with doors; is done of many rooms that you have to dig into to achieve other rooms, i REALLY DISLIKE THIS... so devs solve this situation in order to do a smooth gameplay or your game has a weak point that is not to ignore! Once you solved this issue i might buy it back...
A dumbed down version of a wannabe roguelite with Terraria inspired graphics mixed with a little starbound. I won this game through a raffle on twitch and I just so happened to win it... the games boring, simple, and lacks any updates as of now (Most likely forever). Consider getting something else cause this game sucks
It is a fun little game to while away a couple of hours. If I have to be critical I would say that this game is bit of everything, yet excells at nothing in particular. There is exploration, you can build stuff and there is some rudementary combat, What is great is the sense of wonder and exploration; The world feels mysterious and alien.I do not regret my purchase at all.
If you like randomly wandering around and hitting things with no guidance this may be for you. Then again, I would encourage you to just have a mental breakdown. At least that wont take up hard drive space.
Loving this so much.. it fits perfectly into what I wish terraria was, some of what junk jack has and the satisfaction of hoarding all the blocks and things that minecraft has.. I am yet to build a house but I can not wait to see where this game goes! Would love some multiplayer obviously and server based gameplay would just make this the perfect game. Added bonus is it runs on my wacom for some nice gameplay in bed!
First off this game is not bad by any means, I suppose I am just a bit lost there is no clear indication of what I should be doing ive found weapons and stuff to build with and also the main town where you can craft stuff but i don't know if I should be building a base, exploring, hunting for bosses or trying to find some epic loot, also the music in the game all of a sudden changes to a high energetic music and you think o wow boss fight yea? no you get nothing its just the games music. I wish this game was multiplayer I know a lot of friends that would like to play together like in Terraria or Starbound The Game is not bad at all, I need to play more and get further in game 👍
Ben Porter has put a lot of love into this game, developing it over what seems like millions of years. The evolution of a real world. IMHO the best games of all time have an overworked quality where some old content was left in and had the effect of grounding the world with flavourful details. The game is a magnum opus, an artistic work of a renaissance man, though while indie and potentially still containing some rough edges due to the lack of corporate machinery, it represents an auteur vision that would otherwise be lost to "add more pop" "take out the snails" "I not sure about that shade of green". I believe it will be well worth checking out, a gem glowing with vitality in the sea of unimaginative titles. I wish Ben and the other developers helping out on this project all the best and also success in their future projects.
