Lovely story with beautiful music. Makes you giggle inside for those two: I ship them! <3
Honestly, the story is bland and predictable. I'd say just get it for the visuals & audio if that's your thing.
I love this game soooo much! I can't stop thinking of it. The whole game is so beautiful. The story, the sprites, the CGs... I cried like a baby at the end.;;;-; And our catboy is so cute! :333 This game is PERFECT!!
Fast-paced but interesting, beautiful art. I'm waiting for the DLC as well. The music was very nice. Despite the main character being a cat-person, his cat ears don't actually move along with his expressions :( that would have been so cool...
Fiyatına gelecek olursak ben TL kuruyla ucuza almıştım şu an indirimsiz almaya değecek bir oyun olduğunu düşünmüyorum.
Overall, I'll say I liked Moonflower, that's what I'm going with as my opening line because god knows do BL VN creators need some help on this platform, and every review matters. The art is really gorgeous, like genuinely really pretty and I love the two leads, their designs and their writing are actually fantastic. I wholly bought their sudden attraction, their attitudes, their everything really. The worldbuilding was interesting, of what questions were answered, although we never get to see the world outside the palace, nor outside of a few characters. Still, I was very much emotionally drawn into the story! Which is where the buts come in. I really do like Moonflower, BUT. It is very short if you're a fast reader, and there really aren't a lot of decisions that matter. It's not the kind of game you have to play with a guide (although there are ones on the community section), which in some ways makes the first playthrough more satisfying... or it would, but the only way to get the good ending is really quite obtuse and basically requires you to already know the twist ahead of time. It's cute, to be sure--but ultimately it kinda feels like it undercuts your actual relationship with your love interest and the importance of what you can say/do into just... well, pick make this thing very early on that you 90% won't do unless you already know the 'twist'. (Which isn't really a twist, it becomes incredibly apparent about ten minutes after it's already too late to act upon anything that affects the ending. So, I didn't really like that. Those are the first buts, and they're pretty big. The final but is that the game sorta just feels... unfinished? Like the good ending is also a bit of a 'wait and see' cliffhanger which I have no idea if it'll ever get actually resolved or added to, which while effective as an emotional end does leave me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. What can I say, I like stories that feel complete. All that said I still like the game a lot and BL VN creators definitely do deserve support. It's really nicely written pretty much throughout, it just feels like a couple of key miss-steps do really undermine what's there.
Reading this as part of the Fall in Love VN Festival 2025. ✔️ Tested on Steam Deck, it works fine (27/09/2025). 'A' button to advance text and touchscreen for menu and choices. Well-written, with characters that feel charismatic and fun to follow. I loved the artstyle used for the sprites. There are a few sweet romance moments, but they’re pretty quick since the VN itself is very short. Honestly, it feels more like a small fragment of a bigger story and I kind of wish there was more to dive into. Still, I did enjoy what I read.
I really enjoyed this, it's a very interesting story and cute!
I wish Steam had more nuanced options for reviews. While I wouldn't necessarily call Moonflower a bad game, I cannot in good conscience recommend it at its current price either. So let's get down to the nitty gritty. Like others, I found the game to feel remarkably unfinished - the good ending is something of a cliffhanger, leaving the players to fill in the blanks for themselves. This was supposed to be continued in an epilogue DLC announced over two years ago as of writing this review (Jan 30, 2024) but there has bee no further communication from the team since that announcement. At this point, I can only assume plans for the DLC have been abandoned, leaving the game to remain forever in its current state. But perhaps more concerning is how desperately Moonflower needed an editor. In my playthrough I noticed a few instances of dialogue incorrectly sharing the same text box rather than advancing as it was clearly intended to. There were more than a few misspelled words, multiple instances of odd phrasing, and an overuse of epithets when describing characters. The game reads a lot like a writer who developed most of their skill writing exclusively fanfiction without a beta. And without a world and characters their readers were already familiar with to fall back on, they also fell into a habit of way too much telling rather than showing. I know its a written medium, but I felt like most of what we learned about the characters was Nika telling us how they were perceived rather than giving the characters a chance to shine for themselves. (One particularly egregious example I can think of was being told how much effort Alyvia put into learning about the servants of the palace as an example to show how kind she is - there were better ways this could have been conveyed to the player!) Overall, I would say Moonflower is okay. It's no shining beacon among visual novels, but it's not the worst I've ever played either. I expected better from it given the price point and the reviews, and I was let down. If you think you might enjoy it, I'd suggest waiting to pick it up on sale. Between the unpolished feel, the lack of a truly satisfying ending, and the short playtime I just can't recommend anyone spend that much on it.
Beautiful artwork and character designs. I really enjoyed this story! The characters were wonderful, of course I loved Skylar and Ender, but Alyvia, Thane, and Wesley were great characters too. Skylar and Ender have such a sweet love story. The lore and world of Moonflower are super interesting. I can't wait to see what happens next when the epilogue is released!
