About
Plucky Lieutenant Tide has been drafted into the Monster Ops: A military taskforce that hunts monsters who've escaped from a top-secret experiment. He joins the no-nonsense veteran soldier Wraith and the peaceful human-loving monster Balasque.
Tide's past screw-ups make him a questionable choice for the high-stakes black ops, but he's determined to prove himself to Wraith. He can't help but look up to their badass leader.
Wraith seems rough around the edges, but he warms up to Tide quickly. When the nature of their missions turn sexual, romantic possibilities open up for the two that neither had considered.
With increasingly dangerous missions and an unpredictable commander, Wraith and Tide know they must count on each other to survive.
Will their bond as battle-brothers evolve into something more?

Monster Ops is simply a low-effort cash grab which takes advantage of unmet demand for gay games. The first, free chapter is supposed to lure you in for thirty more chapters the studio plans to release. 5€ per one, totalling 145€ (~$167)—with the option to subscribe to the studio's Patreon for early access. Mind you, this game had already been crowd-funded. It would appear YPG figured out they can get away with charging more for doing less. Egregious pricing aside, the writing is as inane as it is boring. It is a filler in between unexciting porn scenes—scenes which, instead of sex between men, remind of plastic dolls smashing at their plastic bits. Everything about Monster Ops is cheap. Except for its price tag.
Was hot, good art and sound design, def will be picking up the other episodes depending on the price. I don't like the episodic releasing the game in five parts as five different games thing though. I would rather just buy one game with all episodes.

I remember when I remember, I remember when I lost my mind There was something so pleasant about that place Even your emotions have an echo in so much space And when you're out there without care Yeah, I was out of touch But it wasn't because I didn't know enough I just knew too much, hm Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Possibly And I hope that you are having the time of your life But think twice, that's my only advice, mm Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you Who do you think you are? Ha-ha-ha, bless your soul You really think you're in control, well I think you're crazy I think you're crazy I think you're crazy Just like me My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on the limb And all I remember is thinking "I want to be like them" Ever since I was little Ever since I was little, it looked like fun And it's no coincidence I've come And I can die when I'm done But maybe I'm crazy Maybe you're crazy Maybe we're crazy Probably
Short start of the Monster Ops Series. Nice read as always with YPress - very buff men included. A bit too much for my taste, but the "action" makes up for it :3 I like how the game - short as it is - still has choices for us! Looking forward to the rest <3

Too short for my liking — it's roughly an hour of gameplay. The total price for all the other parts of the game combined costs more than that of a full-length visual novel with more features and voice acting (it almost feels like a scam). On top of that, it was missing such a vital feature as a backlog, and the text box is way too small to read and appreciate the drawings at the same time. The story seems kinda interesting, but not enough for me to buy the next parts.
I do not recommend
It's free. That said, I have a few mild quibbles with the first installment. PROS: - The accompanying sound effects are great and really immerse you in the read. - The characters are likable and the ending bit of intrigue hints at some greater plot afoot. - The art's not bad and not too distracting, although they reuse poses quite a bit and when characters move about or exit, they just bob around like 2D puppets. - A couple choices lead to game over/death states which makes consequences feel a little bit more weighty. - If you've been hanging out on the SoapXGhost tag on AO3, then this story ought scratch a certain itch. - Some of the monster designs are truly freaky and not just Asasri-styled hot dudes/chicks. - Our MC, despite being a silver-spoon-wielding nepo-baby, is actually surprisingly wholesome and earthy. He's also chock-full of Southern idioms that sometimes make me laugh out loud. - Achievements for every decision, even the "bad" ones. CONS - The background music is on a thirty-second loop, so Lord-forbid you're a slow reader because if you linger in a scene, the looping is ridiculously bad. - The emphasis and weight placed on military rank-'n'-file reads like someone absorbed a wiki on basic terminology and is flexing their limited knowledge - not in a good way. - The ending scene cannot be opted out of, even for narrative reasons, so the "consent" comes across as dubious at best. - You can finish all play throughs/endings in about half an hour if you're a fast reader like me, which seems really quick, even for a free game. If the other chapters are the same length, I don't think that makes them worth the price point they're being sold at. - You cannot go back text blocks, even within the same scene, so if you missed something or skipped ahead by accident, you're gonna have to repaly the whole game up to that point. - There're, like, ten open save slots for a story that is less than 15 minutes long? Like, what is the point of that? - Outside of sexy scenes, each character has three expressions: Neutral, thinking/pondering, and pissed. Except for Wraith. He gets bored, pissed, and REALLY PISSED. Oh, I guess Tide gets a fourth one in two scenes: TOTAL SUNSHINE CHEESE. Okay... maybe that last one is a "pro"... or maybe I'm gaslighting myself. I recommend this first outting because it's free and will sort of gauge if you want to continue the story. Outside of that, as far as it stacks up against other visual novels, I can't really get behind it. Happy gooning!
Hot! My only complained to your games is that there is always a lot going on in texts, and much less in pictures. Also, it's just linear, choices don't matter. I hope next parts are not that linear. The art is great!
